If you're going to drive straight thru, please take some rest stops and walk around. I did the drive from Miami with my husband straight thru and 2 weeks later I was in the ER with massive pulmonary embolisms and almost died. Sitting for that long without moving caused the blood to clot...

Oh my, I’m so sorry. That must have been scary. Thank you for making me aware.

Re: Which would you say is safer, hotel or a plane
My in laws were in FL mid-March & had to make this decision. They chose to fly, but the iaprt & flight were empty.
I have family who is actually going to FL ( this has been planned for months). They were gong to fly, but freaked out about over crowded flights they saw on the news. flights were empty, so they cut flights, and now they are too crowded. It isn't all flights though. After all the controversy, airlines are making some adjustments. I watch a lot of flight attendant videos, and all those flights seem empty.
I think, depending on the airline & what precautions they offer, I'd fly, just to limit the time I'm out in public, but my family member is driving. They have to stay in hotel when they get there anyway until their stuff arrives, so it is just 1 or 2 extra hotels. They are brigning their own disinfectant & even their own sheets. ( They are pretty germaphobic on a good day.)
