Has anyone sewed their own masks?
Just wondering where you are getting fabric and what kind you are using.

I have sewn a couple and bought homemade ones. I have a fabric stash from Joann's, because I used to sew a lot. Regular cotton fabric, and too thick to breathe in to be honest. They are way hotter than the disposable ones. I hate the sewn ones right now if I have to wear it for an extended time. On the ferry to Fire Island today we wore disposable. So much cooler. Target has a pack of 2 fabric ones for $4. Those are okay.

I've found the opposite, I find the cotton masks to be far cooler than the disposable. I think the key is to use 100% cotton fabric. I have been using high quality bed sheets as my inner fabric and then a regular quilting cotton for the outer part of the mask. Joann and Hobby Lobby have decent stock of fabric in store, online shopping for fabric hasn't been great.

Is it called quilting cotton? That's what I'm also trying to figure out. I'm no every in fabric but I feel like there are different types of cotton, lol, and the t sheet cotton is heavy.

Yes, I've used quilting fabric or apparel fabric, but I just search for 100% cotton. Any of these fabrics should work fine: Hobby Lobby Quilting fabric
Hobby Lobby Apparel Fabric
Fair warning - a lot of this fabric is out of stock online. Your best bet is to go to the store, this way you can also get a feel for the fabric.
Depending on the pattern you use you can get a good amount of masks out of even a half yard of fabric. My advice is to buy two different fabrics - make sure the inside fabric is distinguishable from the outside fabric so that you don't put your mask on outside in. Not a big deal if it has been freshly washed, but not great if you're putting it back on after having taken it off.
