I have fibromyalgia. And when I go into a flare, that’s my first symptom. It’s exactly as you describe. Bad Sunburn without anything physical on the skin. Sometimes it’s one spot. Sometimes it’s multiple random spots. And sometimes it’s head to toe and I lay naked wrapped in fleece because everything that touches my skin hurts.

If you have Epstein Barr, you can be prone to having fibromyalgia. It came on suddenly for me a few years ago. This happens to me When my stress levels are through the roof, if I’m coming down with a cold or even when a bad period is on its way.

Have you been overly stressed? Have you noticed excess fatigue or any other symptoms ? Take some Advil or Tylenol and get as much rest as you can. A friend visit May be necessary if it continues. For me, I have muscle relaxers to take a night for a few nights to be sure I get full sleep to destress

What is Epstein Barr? I’ll have to google these.

Nope haven’t been overly stressed. Since March, there were various other times I was stressed and lately doesn’t even compare to those times. So no nothing crazy!

A friend visit?

I’m sorry. Autocorrect. That was Dr. Visit

If you’ve ever had Mono - Epstein Barr virus can be laying dormant in your body. I never knew I had it until I started this Fibro Journey and all the testing that comes with it. First time around my vitamin D was at 8! So they thought it was severe Vit D deficiency. I got that back up to normal range within 6 months and still had these symptoms. The testing continued and they found EB reactivated and the numbers were those of an active infection. I was told to rest as much as possible and no physical activity because my spleen could rupture (same as mono)
I rested for 2 weeks and acutely felt better. Then it started again. I kept a diary. And it seemed stress, a common cold or ovulation/period week would start a flare.

Long drawn out process that started with feeling like I had sunburn when I didn’t came out to be fibromyalgia. For me, I have to be more kind to myself or else my body suffers this way.

Write down how it started, how’s its changed and Go see your dr. They can run simple tests at first to rule out vitamin issues , etc.

I hope you feel better soon.

It’s funny because my period was over 2 weeks late this month and it’s never been like that. Started wed night with my period and this skin thing started Thursday.

I’ve never had mono before that I know of.
Ugh will do. Thank you for all the advice.

Just the one time? If that was around when the symptoms started, you may just want to run it by your prescriber.

yes just the one time. But 5 days prior to when the symptoms started. Is it possible to have such a delayed reaction?

Could be Weeks. If it’s hormonal, usually a couple of days. If it’s from a cold or other illness, it usually starts with skin pain, moves to the illness itself and then when it ends, skin hurts for about a week. But when it’s a full flare - it can be weeks. A lot of it depends on if I’m able to get enough rest my mind and body needs.

You should 100% go see a dr to rule out what I mentioned last time with severe vitamin deficiency bc that can cause what you’re feeling as well.

Is the pain/burning in one spot or moving around to different areas?

Moving around to different spots. Every 2 days it changes to new areas.

Any reason you won't consider shingles even though many of us have suggested it? If you went to a Dr last week you'd already know!

I’m not ruling it out. I’m not ruling anything out at this point.
I can’t go to my doctor. He was closed all this past week so I have an appt on Tuesday. Not sure I really want to step foot in a walk in right now...

I would google the medicine and see if anyone else had the same symptoms. Medicines like Levaquin and Cipro cause nerve issues, and they don't present themselves until after you have taken the medicine. It could be anything really, but definitely sounds like a nerve issue. Probably not shingles if the pain moves to a bunch of different spots and crosses your midline (Shingles typically only effects one side of the body..and I've had it, and the nerve pain was in a centralized area, under my armpit).
