strange covid symptom?
Has anyone heard of anyone who tested positive for covid having this symptom- skin sensitivity?
Meaning, I have spots on my body that feel like a sunburn almost and then it can feel painful when clothing rubs against it. Seems to be worse at night. Then those spots went away over a day or two but new areas showed up.
Wearing jeans is torture. I had to change out of my sweatpants last night and into shorts because it was hurting too much just from rubbing against my skin.
No rash. No redness. Not raised.
No other symptoms.
ETA: i have not been tested for covid.

Re: strange covid symptom?
I've not heard of this as a symptom. I heard of something called Covid Toe where you get like redness and a red rash/bumps on your toes, but not sensitivity with no outward rash or anything.
Do you have Covid right now ? Or other symptoms of it?

I have not been tested. This is day 5 of the sensitive skin. No other symptoms.

Re: strange covid symptom?
Is it possible it's just dry skin from the change in weather? My legs were burning/itching after I got out of the shower the other day and put jeans on. I thought I was going to lose my mind. I use baby oil before I towel off in the shower and that helps tremendously.

I highly doubt it's Covid then. Could be a sensitivity to laundry detergent, fibers in your clothes, even an allergy you never knew you had. Hot water in the shower or a new soap?

strange covid symptom?
My family had Covid back in march/april so I belong to quite a few covid groups on facebook and there are many reports of skin sensitivities on those pages. Some are current cases and some are after effects of having had Covid, Is it possible you had it at some point and didn't know it?

Could it possibly be shingles?

I looked into that and cellulitis and I have no rash at all. So I don’t think so.

Yes. There has been some research mentioning skin lesions as a symptom. I would definitely see your doctor, I wouldn’t panic about it being covid though. It could be shingles as well

As my luck has it, he’s closed the rest of the week. So the earliest I can go in is Tuesday of next week.

I know lines are crazy long, but can you get to an urgent care/walk-in place? I would try to see someone sooner than next week, if at all possible

Do you have actual lesions though? I don't know- I'm not jumping to Covid on this even a little to be honest.

I'm wondering if it's some kind of neuropathy/nerve pain. I would probably go to my GP when he's back in the office. The last place you want to be is an urgent care right now. If you don't already have Covid you will when you leave. lol

I was going to suggest shingles also. I had a very mild case early this summer, no rash either, sounded just like you are describing.

Re: strange covid symptom?
Shingles is popping up like crazy in people now since it is stress induced. Google “shingles dermatomes” images to see if your sensitivity patterns line up with a dermatome.

Re: strange covid symptom?
I have fibromyalgia. And when I go into a flare, that’s my first symptom. It’s exactly as you describe. Bad Sunburn without anything physical on the skin. Sometimes it’s one spot. Sometimes it’s multiple random spots. And sometimes it’s head to toe and I lay naked wrapped in fleece because everything that touches my skin hurts.
If you have Epstein Barr, you can be prone to having fibromyalgia. It came on suddenly for me a few years ago. This happens to me When my stress levels are through the roof, if I’m coming down with a cold or even when a bad period is on its way.
Have you been overly stressed? Have you noticed excess fatigue or any other symptoms ? Take some Advil or Tylenol and get as much rest as you can. A friend visit May be necessary if it continues. For me, I have muscle relaxers to take a night for a few nights to be sure I get full sleep to destress

Re: strange covid symptom?
Have you used any new soaps or detergents? In college I had a reaction to detergent and got hives in random Splotches around my body. It was hot and itchy I believe.
A Benadryl may help relieve symptoms.
Good luck, I hope it’s nothing serious.

What is Epstein Barr? I’ll have to google these.
Nope haven’t been overly stressed. Since March, there were various other times I was stressed and lately doesn’t even compare to those times. So no nothing crazy!
A friend visit?

Are you taking any new supplements, vitamins or medications? I had a similar reaction to a medication that was prescribed to me this summer.

Re: strange covid symptom?
I’m not a doctor, but I have recently noticed this in myself. It could be hormones and your age (I assume you are in your 40s). I know it isn’t shingles for me because I’ve never had the chicken pox.
