Above ground pool sizes..please don't move
Hi everyone,
Happy New Year. I have a question about above ground pools. DH & I just ordered a 18' round above ground pool for the summer. I'm excited but now I'm worried it may be too small. We have two girls 13 and 4 and my family is here a lot. We have a nice size backyard but DH doesn't want a pool taking it all up plus my dad is going to build us a deck to go around the pool so he thinks if we go any bigger it will take up too much space.
Me..I'm worried that it will be too small and I will regret it. Does anyone with an above ground pool have any experience with sizes? Is 18' a good size? Thanks.

I would take a tape measure and walk outside with it and measure. It is not that big to be completely honest, but it will really depend upon your lot size.

Re: Above ground pool sizes..please don't move
I think a lot depends on how much you use your yard for other activities. I do have a 24 foot and love the size- but my biggest concern was how much lawn space it would take up. My family has done a lot on the lawn- whiffle ball, kick ball, volley ball. Luckily the way my yard is situated, I was able to nestle the deck in a corner that was wasted space. My deck did not take away from my yard and it is probably smaller than what you have planned. (I think it is about 9 x 12)
I think you should consider that, because if you have an active family, you will be using the yard space more actual time during the year than the pool.
My kids friends had 18' and it was fine for them And as PP said, it really depends on your lot size.

We don’t have it anymore, but we had an 18’ pool. I thought it was big enough and we had 3 kids who used it.

I would definitely get bigger than an 18 foot if you can afford too. We have one and I think it's too small. You can barely get more than 3 rafts and if your kids have many friends, the pool will fill up quick. But that being said, the kids still have fun and it is wonderful to cool down in during the summer. Growing up we had a 24 foot round and we use to call it our lake lol. It was awesome!

If possible, I'd go with 24' -- 18' will be fine, but I think you'd be happier with the larger size. Can you "tape out" the different sizes (18' and 24') to see if the larger size would really take up too much space in the yard?

Did you try Modern Comfort or Dunrite? Both very good pool builders... you need a pool builder for a semi and you need permits.

The pool installer we're using came today. We are scheduled for April. He says he has spots but they are filling up fast. I'm not doing a semi though just AG so not sure if the timeline is different for semi. Good luck.

I would go bigger than that. 18' is not as big as you think. I thought an above ground 25' pool would take up my whole yard. We pulled the trigger and got an inground which is 22'x38' and I still have plenty of yard.
