The words that are coming out of the mouths of Republicans is simply jaw dropping. They are simply detached from the reality of what took place last week. It's unreal that they are painting Trump as an innocent victim. Despicable.

Their "defense" of him is mostly
"But the pre-Covid economy!"
"He only has a week left!"
"Free speech"
"Nuh uh"


They never seem to address the words he's been saying for the last 4 years, the last few months, and especially the last few weeks.

I don't understand how you can defend the POTUS causing an insurrection. Even if you did give him credit for the economy, how does that possibly excuse an attempt to take down our Democracy?

That is what is pi$$ing me off. Rattling off a list of Trump's (debatable) accomplishments does not in ANY way excuse his criminality. I wouldn't care if he brokered world peace, sent every American a $10K stimulus check, skyrocketed the economy or so on because at the end of the day he is a criminal and NOTHING else matters.

I cannot believe that Republicans are wailing on about peace and unity and that this is a waste of time because he has just a week left. This is ALL about accountability! It's also about consequences and precedent and you do not send a treasonous insurrectionist off into the night with just a pat on the back and a goodbye.

Shame on the Republicans who will not hold him accountable. Their party is sinking right before their eyes and so many still won't abandon the ship.
