If all these people trying to be “Woke” come for my rap music we’re going to have a problem.
Did anyone see this Tik Tok about us in the 90s vs WAP. This was me
WAP vs. Me in 1998
tons of inappropriate music back then. 'Push it' instantly comes to mind lol. We should be way more fkd up as a generation . Remember "My neck, my back"?
Yep today they just come out and say things that might not be caught on to like back then and even years before that lol
Nine Inch Nails and their song Closer would like to have a word with you
So would Sublime and their song Date Rape.
Lords of Acid.
Aware of all of these.
They paved the way for Cardi B and all these other noobs still in diapers that think they invented mature content lol.
True but you could still listen to their other songs and not have non stop cursing and the N word, etc.
So shut off the music that bothers you. Nobody is forcing you to listen to explicit language. Just like with anything else you have the option to shut it off. I hardly think this music is so prevalent that you're forced to hear WAP in the produce aisle of Shoprite and when running errands. Like I said upthread you have to actively seek out the uncensored versions even online. WAP and detachable penises don't just pop up unannounced while you're going about your day
Of course. I am usually subjected to it by the kids. You’ll see when you kids are older :)

I think POC rappers using particular language is quite different than white people using it. I’ve always felt that way. I don’t equate Suess using the N word in a cartoon to a modern day rapper using it.
So as long as you are a member of a certain ethnic group or race you can use the slurs or derogatory language? Like only Irish people can only use the term mc or donkey amongst themselves?
Exactly, why is it different?
Do you have some overwhelming desire to start shouting out slurs and feel this is unfair? Technically you can say anything you want. Nobody is stopping you from shouting out those slurs if you want to. Freedom of speech and all. It may not be received well though if you're in the company of others.
Not particularly but n word ending in an a was used as a term of endearment among guys I grew up with .I grew up in a very diverse area of the city.
Back when we were growing up all kinds of colorful language was common. I distinctively remember a lot of homosexual slurs that start with F and slurs against the disabled that start with R were sprinkled into almost every single sentence with ease. "That movie is so R------, you're such a R--- F---- for liking it", etc. We know better now. We find new words to use.
I still see adults talking like that. It doesn’t always go away because of this new politically correctness.

People still get drunk and sh!t in bushes even though we have indoor plumbing now. People still have sex with their cousins and livestock. People still do all kinds of incomprehensible things.
So, choosing not to use words like R---, F---, and N--- is just some kind of new political correctness? And if you don't believe in political correctness it's ok to use those words? And if it's ok for black people to use the n word it should be ok for white people too? Just trying to understand what you mean.

Theres no understanding it because of none of it makes sense. These are the kind of people who will also say oh well if white people cant say (fill in the blank) then why is it ok for people to portray accents from a different culture in movies? (Or something equally ridiculous) There is zero rational thinking and zero logic behind it. They just like pushing pushing people's buttons on online for kicks because they can hide behind the anonymity of it. Sad...

Re: Dr. Suess
So as I'm doing some research I see that the Biden administration pulled Dr Seuss books from the read across America. but then found an article from the New York Post from 2015 when Michelle Obama was first lady reading a Dr Seuss book to a class of kids and said how she loved Dr Seuss books so I guess the books are racist now but not a few years ago?

It is 6 specific titles that the publishing company has decided to stop publishing because the depictions are not acceptable. Look it up. Find out which ones are being pulled and what Michelle Obama read then come back and review your remarks...

What is the difference? She said they love Dr. Suess so none of his books bothered her at that time as why would someone make a remark like that?

I get where u’re coming from (and Diane as well). Some people from this thread have said that they don’t feel right supporting a writer that have used the n word, for example, in his other writings (not the ones for children) because that would pretty much make him a racist. But then u see Michelle and Barack reading books from this writer and/or saying they love this writer’s books. U’d think they’d be aware of this situation and not support this writer as well but that wasn’t the case. So I can see how it’d get confusing understanding this part. I think it’d be interesting hearing Michelle and Barack’s thoughts about this now, and other people from the black community that liked Dr Seuss before.

YES, I know which ones were pulled. You are missing my point. No I do not need to edit my remark. Maybe you need to re-read my post! So why remove all Seuss books from Read Across America? Many school districts are not evening recognizing his books.

The contract with dr Seuss ended years ago. So now the books are not the focus of read across America. They are focusing on diversity. Dr Seuss books were also not banned. School districts are realizing the need for diversity and therefore promoting books that celebrate that.

You know why Michele Obama said she loved his books because she probably doesn’t care and the majority of black people don’t care about this.
You know what we care about first.. issues with gentrification, not getting killed by the cops for no reason, not being treated like second class citizens, not derogatorily being called a N#ggah, fair education and living conditions. When stuff like a epidemic or pandemic happen, understand the impact it’s having on our communities from the start not when’s it’s too freaking late.

I NEVER said they were banned.
You know simple sh!t, like being treated like a human.
