How long is temporary?
So what time range would you say temporary is? 6 months? A year? Longer?

How long is temporary?
Just in general. If you heard that a restaurant was temporarily closed what time range would you guess? Or if you were a temp at a company how long would you expect the job to last?

Setting up expectations for things you can't control is just setting yourself up for disappointment. There is no specific timetable whatsoever for "temporary" °

For a restaurant? It would depend on why it was closing. For a vacation at least two weeks to one month. In August everything pretty much shuts down here, so I expect that.
For a temp? If it is a temporary contract, then whatever the contract says. Temporary contracts are just that. Temporary.

Temp contract could be 3 months, 6, months , 1 year or more. A restaurant a few weeks to 3 months. Depending on why they closed, ie. Renovations, COVId

I agree. I would think for a job either three or six months. I would assume you were the leave replacement for someone on maternity leave, or illness/taking care of someone.

I guess it all depends on the individual thing. Covid that was a temporary thing over a year ago, who knows.

Temporary to me depends on the situation.
My son didn’t sttn until 2 years old. I never thought I would get out of that Mom zombie phase. Then one day, he slept all night. It sucked for two years but it is now a temporary blip.

My 1st was 6 weeks, 2nd 10 BUT the 2nd gave me such a hard time as they got older that I had to use advice from Nanny 911. It actually worked but it was sooo hard for 3-4 days. Doesn’t sound like a long time but that child would be the one who asked to do everything, the bathroom, eat, games, etc in the middle of the night or 4 or 5am. Now they will sleep until the cows come home lol.

My mother was a temp for about 7 years. They called her a long-term temp, which I did think was an oxymoron.
A temp job, normally I would think would be a year or less. When something is closed for construction it can take a few years.

It's entirely fact specific. Also, something can be projected to be temporary if people do certain basic things, and if they fail to do them, the temporary thing can be prolonged.
