Birthday Party Question

Hi! I just wanted to see at what age you started to drop off your child to a classmate's birthday party vs. staying with them.

Re: Birthday Party Question

I think my DD was around 3rd grade when I started drop offs.

ETA - As she got a little older I would always ask the party host what they would prefer. Some liked the parents to stick around, others preferred a drop off.

Birthday Party Question

It depended on a few things. If the party was in a public place where anyone can just walk in the door, I still usually stay. My older DD is 10.

I didn’t drop off with families I didn’t know until 3rd or 4th grade. If I knew the family very well I was dropping off by first grade.

Re: Birthday Party Question

I don't think I dropped off my kids to many parties as I usually knew the parents and we were usually friends.

I think around 8. If it is a drive to get there, like at Bounce U or something, I still stay unless I carpool. Also, if I am friends with the parents, I will stay at a house party to help out (and drink wine LOL)

Re: Birthday Party Question

As everyone said.. depends on where. A closed place maybe around 3rd grade.

I was surpised at a 1st grade party parents dropped off at a bowling alley. I was a big NO for that. Especially at that age. What if they had to go to the bathroom?!

My son is in 1st grade and I would love to have a small birthday party at my house this year but I don't think I have room for all the parents. Sometimes both parents come to parties which I never understand. I wish they would drop off.

I have had 50 people in my small house so I am sure you would be ok as most people have bigger homes than we do Chat Icon

Birthday Party Question

Every party DD has gone to since COVID was drop off, including one at a popular place on LI. She is in 1st grade but went to a drop off party last year in K. DH waited outside in the car.

This. Seems now they want smaller numbers so invitations state drop off party. I am sure you could stay if you wanted to.

I dropped off starting at 1st grade - but we are in a small school, 32 kids in the grade, only two classes - I feel like we know everyone.
