Contribution for teacher gift

We got an email about contributing to the teacher’s holiday gift, but there is no recommended amount. How much does your class parent request? I’m think $5-10. I just don’t want to give too little or too much. My son’s teacher is AMAZING btw.

Thanks.

We usually are asked for $10 - $5 for the main teacher and then $5 to go into a pool for all of the specials.

I usually give a gift on my own as well as I don't think $5 is enough lol.

Usually when a class parent has collected for my kids classes they ask for $10-15.

If I was giving the gift from just my child I would spend about $40 so when I'm contributing to the class gift I'll usually send a small little extra gift in for the teacher. Chat Icon

Re: Contribution for teacher gift

When I was class mom, I collected at the beginning of the year $20 for a winter gift and end of year gift from each family. I would always give an additional gift for Christmas, and I would buy books for their classroom, and cleaning supplies. I also gave an end of year gift.

Our class mom is asking for $20. Not mandatory so I don’t plan on contributing. I got her teacher a gift myself

I have 2 kids - one they are asking for $30 a kid the other they request $25 a kid

It's the teacher and an aide in each class- I think my kids have about 20 kids in the class- I will give the amount requested but I do think it is getting out of control.

for those of you posting the higher amounts, do you also get your own gift too? As I said, we ask for $5/kid but I think most parents also get their own gift too like a $25 gift card or something.

These amounts are insane!

I gave $10. I live upstate so that’s probably very generous.

I’m a HS teacher and feel appreciated when my kids give me a holiday card. Sometimes I get $5 to DD.

We are not allowed to ask for more than $5 and that's only for an end of year gift. Holidays you're on your own.

I’m one of the class moms for my son’s class. We asked, at the beginning of the year, for $20 per child. That goes to class parties, holiday gift and end of the year gift.

The PTA requested $25 per child. That is used toward the class gift and anything else they may need.
