Re: Question about spit up

DS used to spit up A LOT...like 4 or more receiving blankets a day and multiple outfits until I learned how to catch it. He doesn't do it so much any more b/c he is 8mos and is growing out of it.

My Dr. said that as long as he is not in any pain, and he is gaining weight as normal then it is fine...its more of a laundry problem. He wasn't any more hungry either, so I wasn't concerned.

I just delt with it b/c DS never seemed to be bothered by it at all. Actually, the only time it did bother him was when I fed him apples Chat Icon I guess they are a bit acidic so when they came back up he would make a either a yuck face or a hurt face, not sure which, but I hardly ever fed him apples after that...until the spit up got better.

Re: Question about spit up

Does he look like he's in pain when he spits up? Both of my kids spit up CONSTANTLY. After every bottle, feeding, you name it. But they were happy spitters. It wasn't reflux or anything like that. They were just spitters. Chat Icon

Re: Question about spit up

The pediatrician told me not to worry about the spit up unless DS is having a weight gain issue and is not peeing/pooping like he usually does.

Sometimes DS spits up a ton and other times barely at all. The spit up is deceiving though because it looks like it's a lot more than it actually is. When he first started doing this, I was freaking out thinking nothing was getting digested...but so far I've just learned to deal with it and do extra laundry as PP said.

One trick I learned for reducing the spit up is to use saline drops and to suction out his nose whenever it's stuffy- it totally reduced the amount of spit up!

My DS too, my Dr says he is a happy spitter! He never cries he litterally will just turn his had spit up (sometimes alot) and then resume playing like nothing happened!

At 4 months it seems to have slowed down alot but not completely gone, we have good and bad days still.

Re: Question about spit up

DD spits up a lot....when it was going half way across the room and she was in pain...we switched formula...now that shes on soy it can be quite a bit at sometimes but the doc isnt concerned...shes not bothered by it and shes gaining weight (and its not going halfway across the room anymore!) its more of an annoyance then anything at this point i think.

Re: Question about spit up

if shes not in any pain just bring it up at your next appt. to see what your doc. says...if its not projectile or anything she may just be a spitter upper...not much you can do then Chat Icon its rough, but i have been told they grow out of it...im waiting for that day!

how old is she now??? they grow so quickly dont they!
