port jeff mom-to-be here....
there is a really popular playground in port jeff village near the tennis courts by pace's steak house and the (west) municipal parking lot. unless the weather is hideous, there are always kids to play with and parents to talk to.....

Yeah we go there. They had fun stuff on Thursdays in the Summer too. But I'm honestly all "park'd" out

We go to Wood Kingdom and Fun4all a lot.
We do Fun4all a lot too since we can walk there. Wood Kingdom isn't too far, maybe we'll start doing that more often.

Re: Pt Jeff, Mt. Sinai, Setauket, Miller Place, Rocky Point Moms?
wonder if there's a nature trail or pond around that's kid friendly?
maybe the miller place pond
then you could go to mc nulty's and get your son (yeah sure, it's only for your son ) a fab icecream cone
(mmmm, coconut icecream)
oh, you could also go to stony brook village and go to the water over there. there are always lots of ducks near the mill (but also a lot of duck poop )

The kids have a blast there! They said that they are adding some bouncers and big slides too. Its really reasonably priced too.

What do you do around here during the week to entertain your toddlers? Our library has a total of one toy, so that's no fun. We go to Heritage Park and others, but that's getting old. I feel like I always have to drive South to find fun things to do. Any other ideas?
which library do you go to? comsewogue library on terrryville road usually has some great activities for toddlers (not sure what their fall scheduel is like, but you can check their website http://cpl.suffolk.lib.ny.us/ for more details
the Village Center in Port Jeff also had different activities every week during the summer - again, not sure what their fall schedule is like --- but we saw a magic show, juggling comedy act, kids orchestra, and shrek 3
i've taken DD to the gymnastics center next door to NYSC off of 112
there's the duck pond in setauket (grist mill) - she looooves going there to feed the ducks --- there's also a great trail there, but you probably can't go too far in with a toddler as there's alot of waking involved
there's also a farm on sheep paster road, easy loper (?) i think is the name, and also one a little further east in mt. sinai on rt 25a - not sure if they're open to the public or what, but i've driven by and seen various farm animals grazing

Re: Pt Jeff, Mt. Sinai, Setauket, Miller Place, Rocky Point Moms?
I saw the sign for the gymnastics place but wasn't sure if it was in there since I couldn't find it! We do gymnastics in another town, but it's good to know there is one right here.
That's our library, I haven't gotten the fall program list yet, hopefully this week. The Rec Center only has Music Together for the fall listed so far.
We'll have to check out the duck pond, thanks!

I used to take my son there A LOT when he was little and we lived right down the road from it. Maybe DD and I will meet up with you one day there!

There is a little bit of a nature trail behind the Miller Place duckpond, but not much really.
There is a preserve at Cedar Beach.
Emma would like McNulty's and you can do a driveby of my old house

Yeah we came from that district and you have to be a resident for most programs. They have hands down the best libraries and programs I've seen!

Re: Pt Jeff, Mt. Sinai, Setauket, Miller Place, Rocky Point Moms?
We go to ALL the playgrounds. I think the kids like Heritage the best, but like you said, that gets old.
We go to Cedar alot, but you can get days worth of activities there: 1. Fishing on the pier 2. Walking the nature trail 3. Riding bikes on the nature trail 4. Lounging on the beach & playing in the water 5. Going to look at the boats.
We also go to the North Shore Library alot, and I always stop at the track on the way out. The kids and I walk/chase eachother for 2 laps so I tire them out rofl
We also head into Port Jeff, Stonybrook (the Marina area) alot.
Alot of the schools have nature trails/exercise paths too.
And we go hiking in the woods off of route 21.....

Re: Pt Jeff, Mt. Sinai, Setauket, Miller Place, Rocky Point Moms?
McNulty's in Rocky Point has only8 icecream for the mommys, and characters throughout the summer, so it's actually a fun place to go, as someone suggested.
My sister lives in Rocky Point...
she goes to the beach a LOT...
Also she drives out towards Riverhead and goes to a place I think called WIndy Acres Farm. They have great wooden playground pieces, like huge boats, trucks, etc. tht are fun for the kids to play on. Also strawberry picking, blueberry picking, peach picking and raspberry picking.
Boomers isn't too far either, right off of the LIE.

We do all that, but that's the problem, I am getting tired of venturing to other areas Plus I have to be home to get DS off the bus everyday so the closer to home the better!

No because they aren't open until October, then it's weekends only. I looked at the classes but she isn't old enough yet. It's very close though!

Re: Pt Jeff, Mt. Sinai, Setauket, Miller Place, Rocky Point Moms?
We ventured over to open play at Wood Kingdom in Coram today and we probably won't go back. The guys that run it now just aren't friendly AT ALL, it's nothing like it used to be with the girl that used to run it. This is the second time I've had a coupon and he has disected it like I made it at home or something. Then he told me it wasn't supposed to be good anymore but he would take it this one time. Well then maybe your Farmingdale location shouldn't have handed them out at a recent BLI event I used one from a mailer sent to my house about a year ago and had the same issue.
Maybe we'll just travel a little further to Farmingdale when we want to go!
