Moms of 2(or more)...? re: 1st bday party for #2
OK, I did the big restaurant thing for DD#1 for her 1st bday...A lot of my friends had kids around the same time so she had a lot of "friends" there.
Now DD#2 bday is fast approaching and I cannot decide what to do. I don't want to do a whole big thing again and most of my friends kids are now over 2 so I feel like it would just be all of my older DD's friends.
what did you all do? I'm thinking about maybe a small gym party or something like that. I have to decide quick!

1st b-days are for the parents, not DC, since they are too young to understand. Do whatever YOU feel like doing. DD will have a great time no matter where it is.

I'm not really concerned with DD understanding but wondering if my friends will think it's weird? I am just wondering what the protocol for this is since I am the first to be in this situation...

there is no protocol. for my 1st dc's 1st bday all the kids were 3 and over (I was the last to have kids) and when my 2nd dc's turns one, all the kids will be over the age of 6. they all wanted to be there to be part of the celebration and wish my lil one happy bday.

Re: Moms of 2(or more)...? re: 1st bday party for #2
I did the same thing for my 2nd as I did for my 1st. Both were relatively large parties, which is not what I wanted necessarily, but we invited all of our friends and their children in addition to family and their children.
I don't think anyone's going to think it's weird--the 1st b-day party, IMO, is more of a celebration for the parents AND the honoree, not for a baby's "friends." I also think it would be more likely that people would find it odd if you had a much smaller party for the 2nd one--as though you were slighting her or something.

well it's too late to plan a big restaurant thing and I don't think anyone will think I'm slighting her if I just do a gym party...
Thanks everyone for your input...
