Re: Holiday cards for immediate family
I just send them the same cards at the same time that we send everyone else's card. Especially now that we do photocards.
Maybe next year mail the generic one and them give them a nice one when you exchange gifts.
I think that's a really nice tradition you and your family have BTW.

Re: Holiday cards for immediate family
I send both the picture card and then give them "Special" cards when I see them on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. The 'Special" cards are hand delivered..Pic. cards are mailed.

Re: Holiday cards for immediate family
I was really bad this year. I didn't send anyone cards
But in the past, I've only given our moms and my daughter personal cards. Everyone else got the boxed cards.

My family has always bought nicer, more personal holiday cards for our immediate family (mom, dad, sister, and now DH) and exchanged them Christmas morning. So now I do the same thing for DH family (MIL, FIL, SIL). Yesterday I found out FIL was mad because we hadnt mailed them the same generic card we sent to everyone. He also didnt pay attention when MIL opened our card on Christmas morning. He teasingly called us(me) "cheap" because I didnt mail it.
What do you do as far as holiday cards for immediate family?
i do what you do.... more personal cards like "Merry Christmas, Sister" or whatever and give them out with my presents on Christmas Day. I don't mail them the generic card everyone else got.

Re: Holiday cards for immediate family
I normally do the boxed cards and mail them. This year every card we received was a picture card so I think I am going to do picture cards from now on and just the boxed ones for DHs office and the mailman.

Re: Holiday cards for immediate family
I never really understood the importance of Holiday cards to immediate members especially since we always celebrate the holidays together.
I just never send them

Re: Holiday cards for immediate family
honestly, I hate giving cards. Unless its a super special occassion or a time when you want to save the card (like wedding, graduation, etc) I usually just end up tossing them. I get a box set and send out to everyone. DH's family gets personalized cards for everyone, which is always nice, but we noticed after our holiday family party that everyone left their cards on the table. No one even took them home...
So I rarely give cards, but if I do, they are usually just a from a box set

Re: Holiday cards for immediate family
I buy specific Grandma, Grandpa, & parent cards. I couldn't find a decent brother card, so I just bought a funny card. Everyone else gets a lovely selevtion form my collection of cards bought at after Christmas sales throughout the years.
I do mail everyone's cards. My parents mailed my card, but then gave me another one with $ in it. My grandma, DH's parents & grandpa gave us out cards in person, but they had money in them.
