Re: Private schools in Suffolk?
There are many private schools in Suffolk county. I think in order to narrow your search you should discuss what you are looking for in a school.

Re: Private schools in Suffolk?
The two that I know of in my area are The Laurel Hill School (Setauket) and Stony Brook School (Stony Brook)

Re: Private schools in Suffolk?
Check out www.nysais.org. It's the New York State Association of Independent Schools. It lists all the schools in NYS.

Re: Private schools in Suffolk?
Do you want a parochial school or just a private school? There are many different Catholic schools around that may be close to your neighborhood. Check with your local parish.
Keep in mind that this is going to be a very expensive thing for you and your family. You would probably be better off just trying to put yourself in a nice neighborhood with a good quality public school district. The money that you pay in taxes for a quality school will still be cheaper than private school tuition. Just my 2 cents.... I grew up going to Catholic school and I even used to teach in a parochial school - the quality education (in my opinion) is really not better than many public schools. Because private schools do not have to follow state education laws, many of their teachers are unlicensed and some do not even have their teaching degree. In public schools, all teachers are required to obtain a Masters degree either in teaching or in a subject related to their field.
Good luck...

Re: Private schools in Suffolk?
I'm sending my son to Harbor Country Day School in St. James. He will start 1st grade in Sept. FM if you have any specific questions.

Re: Private schools in Suffolk?
Molly goes to camp at Harbor Country and it is wonderful. Going to private school on LR (not the religious ones) is very expensive.
