I love how Mexican-AMERICAN's were upset..umm....hello if it weren't for all the blood, sweat, tears and lives that went into creating the country that is symbolized by that flag than you would still be just Mexican's wouldn't you?

wow
how do you think AMERICA got to be AMERICA.. by the blood, sweat and tears of everyone that lives here - whether they were Irish, Italian, Mexican, English, German, Dutch, African or whatever.

I think that's her point.

I think there is more going on at the school than meets the eye. I believe they wore the shirts to infame the situation at the school - and therefore are being disrespectful.

Certainly it is their right to be disrepectful - but IMO the school has jurisdiction over what is a disruption to its students & has the right to quell it.

I could be wrong - it could have just been an average day that several students randomly decided to wear American flag shirts AND headbands to school - but I don't think so.

I agree that the school probably has some issues going on between different groups, but until problems arise, what the boys did was symbolic speech, protected by the 1st amendment. (Tinker vs Des Moines)

But it's a thin line. The minute the boys make it an issue (taunt, make comments,...), it can be viewed as a disruption, so I kind of feel like we don't have the whole story.
