03/06 - we lost Dad!

Hi all -

Sorry to ask for more prayers - but Dad's been in the hospital since last Monday... over a week now. He's battling pancreatic cancer and now has an infection. We've been a roller coaster ride with lots of ups and downs...

They were planning to do surgery this week to bypass a portion of his small intestine, but now can't because of the infection.

Please say prayers that they can address this infection quickly, they can do whatever procedures/surgery is necessary, and that his recovery is without complication, and that we can get him back on chemo soon!!!

It is with a heavy heart I report that Dad passed away on March 6th. He fought hard and valiantly, until his body could fight no longer. I was there with him, as was my sister and Mom. We were blessed to be able to have the time to say what we wanted to him and vice versa; however, we are still heartbroken. Please pray for us during these difficult days.***

02/27/08

Dad's cat scan did show some signs of improvement -- not "scream from the mountatin tops" type, but some and that means we are moving in the right direction. For that we are thankful.

Things are still in a precarious state because of multiple issues giong on. Please pray that he totally gets rid of the infection and that the perforation in his small intestine heals. We need these things to happen in order for him to get back on treatment and for whatever procedures need to be done to be able to.

We do believe in the power of prayer and appreciate all of yours -- it makes a difference!

02/25
Dad will get a cat scan today and likely this morning to reassess how things are after the drain placement last week. Please say prayers that we get some positive results and news. After him being in the hospital for about three weeks now, we could all use some good news to celebrate.

We also keep praying that he will get rid of the infection TOTALLY, the abscess will show improvement, and the perforation in his small intestine will heal itself.

THANKS for your continued prayers!!! We really believe in the power of prayer!


02/20 update
They were able to complete the riskier procedure successfully. We thank God and thank everyone who prayed and is praying for him!

Dad is still in the hospital (two plus weeks now) and still quite sick. We hope and pray that this procedure they did yesterday does the trick to get rid of the infection he has. Please continue to pray for his healing - and that he gets over this infection soon!

02/19 update # 2

Sorry to email for a second time - but I am asking you to please say lots of prayers for my Dad and send lots of positivity his way right now. They have changed the procedure they are doing and it is riskier than the original procedure would have been. Please pray that the doctor's hands are guided by God, that this goes well and without complication, and again, that it does the trick to get rid of the infection!!!!

02/19/07 # 1
Dad's still in the hospital. After reviewing the CT scan done yesterday, they believe they can take the less invasive route. He will still be sedated and they will be putting a drain in him to avoid the affected area, so it's still serious. But, it is better than the more invasive route of having to cut him open.

The procedure will be done sometime today -- so please say prayers that it goes well, is without complication, and that it does the trick to clear up this infection and get Dad back on track with treatment!!!

Thank you so much. This has been a roller coaster and knowing there are ltos of people out there praying for him does make it somewhat more bearable.

02/18/07

Well, they think they have figured out what caused the infection -- a small perforation in the top part of his small intestine. What we don't know yet is how they will address it. One of the options is a lot less invasive and we pray that the doctors will decide it is suitable to go that route, so dad doesn't have to have surgery (which would delay getting back on chemo more than the less invasive route). We also pray that whatever route they choose goes well and does the trick. Thanks for your continued prayers!!!

They are still working toward figuring out everything that is going on with Dad. He's having a CT scan today.

Please keep the prayers up!!!!!!!!!!
