We went with a Queen size bed, just so we could have 2 night stands. It was important to us since we each wanted an alarm clock and lamp next to us in bed. Our room isn't that big and if we had gotten a king bed, we wouldn't have had room for two.

we have two but they don't match. Our bedroom set was my grandparents', its at least 45 years old. Their bedroom was so tiny, my grandma had the nightstand on her side & my grandpa had the men's dresser on his side so he put his stuff up there.
Now we have the nightstand on my DH's side & I have a "decorater table" aka cheap round wooden one with tablecloth on my side.
Most fung shui books say you should have matching nightstands for balance.

We have one. I like the least amount of furniture in my bedroom. We had our closets done by Closets by Design so that most of our clothes and things are in the closet hidden away.

We had 2 mismatched ones. When we finally found a nightstand we liked, we bought two. He needs his and I need mine.
