Re: 102.0 fever !!!!
when did you give the Tylenol? It usually takes an hour to an hour and a half to kick in.

Re: 102.0 fever !!!!
That should help bring the fever down. My doctor tol me that babies get very high fevers and not to consider the emergency room unitl 105-106. If you are really worried, the doctor office probably had an emergency number you could call to get the doctor on call. Does he have any other symptoms? I think something is going around b/c m y ds was/is sick too.

Re: 102.0 fever !!!!
My dr said not to worry so much about numbers (my son had 104.3). He said to base it on his behavior....if he is really lethargic, and not drinking, and extremelly irritable, then to do something...other than that, give either tylenol, or motrin, or you can alternate between the two if the fever is high (piggyback it...but I have never done it....it makes me nervous)
Hope he feels better soon!!!

I agree...did you take it rectally? If so, I always believe that anything over 102 rectally is not caused by teething....Im not positive on this, just what I go by.
Hope he feels better!

Re: 102.0 fever !!!!
102 is not really high for a baby. Give him the motrin and bring him to the dr. tomorrow. He'll be fine. IF it does goes over 104 call the dr. Don't fret and I hope he feels better.

Re: 102.0 fever !!!!
If he is other wise acting OK..aside from the fever I wouldnt worry...
If the motrin brings it down and he is his usual self..aside from a little lack of appetite..Im going to have to say that it could be Roseola.

Matthew had a fever of 103 too the other day. He's also had diarrhea. I called the on call doctor and he said the same thing your doctor said.
He's starting to feel a little better and has fever is down. The diarrhea is still lingering but that has been a little better and we've been having less D attacks...

Re: 102.0 fever !!!!
My doc me to alternate Tylenol & Motrin. If you gave whenever you give Tylenol 3 hours later give DC Motrin and 3 hours after Motrin give DC tylenol. We did this (doc told us to) when DS had 104 fever and it worked like a charm.

Roseola?????
Roseola (also known as sixth disease, exanthem subitum, and roseola infantum) is a viral illness in young children, most commonly affecting those between the ages of 6 months and 2 years. It is typically marked by several days of high fever, followed by a distinctive rash just as the fever breaks.
Signs and Symptoms A child with roseola typically develops a mild upper respiratory illness, followed by a high fever (often over 103° Fahrenheit, or 39.5° Celsius) for up to a week. During this time, the child may appear fussy or irritable and may have a decreased appetite and swollen lymph nodes (glands) in the neck.
The high fever often ends abruptly, and at about the same time a pinkish-red flat or raised rash appears on the child's trunk and spreads over the body. The rash's spots blanch (turn white) when you touch them, and individual spots may have a lighter "halo" around them. The rash usually spreads to the neck, face, arms, and legs.
