I really feel for you..my eldest daughter used to run very very high fevers..(so high that they didnt register on the thermoscan-at home, and 105.9-at the doctors office) They usually were for fairly simple infections..ear infections, croup, etc...Im sure your doctor has told you that the as long as she is handling the fever well that in and of itself is little to worry about..children and adults are different in that respect, children can handle a lot higher of a fever than adults can...

There was one infection that she had (bacterial or viral I dont remember) that the only real sign was a high fever and then minor sickness....Im sorry that I dont remember what exactly it was..

My thoughts and prayers are with you

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I hope this means she's on the mend.

My sister is a huge fan of Eastern medicine, went to school for acupuncture & acupressure. She believes blood stasis is a huge factor in illnesses. I've seen it work too although not on fevers.

UPDATE #2 4/4/07

I'm not sure if you saw the post or not, but my sister Laura08 posted on NFR Monday night that we had to rush Maya to the hospital. Her temp was 106.2. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I have never been so scared in my life. Chat Icon

Basically, we got to the ER (Connecticut Children's Medical Center) and we WAITED FOR OVER SEVEN HOURS WITHOUT BEING SEEN. They checked her vitals, gave her Tylenol (temp was down to 103 b/c I gave her Motrin) and sent us into the waiting room. By 3:00 in the morning, we still had not been seen, my kids were hysterical from exhaustion...Maya's temp was down....so we left.

I am BEYOND livid about our ordeal, but trying not to focus on it right now. Trust me, heads will be rolling as soon as Maya is better. My pediatrician is horrified by the treatment we received. I guess there were some very sick kids there that night, but MY kid was really sick too.

Basically, only some of Maya's bloodwork came back so far...and it's pretty good. Nothing major going on, thank God. We are still waiting for the Lyme's test to come back.

We have to attempt to get a urine sample from her today. I'll drop it off at the lab in the morning.

Yesterday, the highest her temp went was 100.5 or so. Once we got it down from 106.2 Monday night it never really came back. It was so high that she was having trouble breathing. Chat Icon

Listen to this miracle...

Yesterday afternoon we took Maya to DH's office to have an acupuncture test and have acupuncture and get a (chiro) adjustment. (they use light, not needles in little ones). When we first got there, Maya looked pale, had purple circles around her eyes and her temp was 100.5. She was adjusted, had the acupuncture...and within MINUTES, her temp was down to 98.8 and her face had color...her eyes looked MUCH better too. They also did this positive energy thing with their hands on her. If I was a skeptic, I am no longer one.

I also spoke with my pediatrician at length. If the fever goes away, he is going to assume it was a virus (which is what they were telling us in the hospital too). If not, we will pursue other avenues. But like I said, her bloodwork is great, so thank GOD it doesn't seem to be any horrible disease like cancer. Oh, and it's not menangitis, she's just not sick enough (she acts fine, fever and all). Thank GOD!

Thank you all for your support and prayers. I truly believe they helped her.

So far today, she seems totally better. Chat Icon Her temp is normal. Hopefully she just had some freak virus and nothing else. Chat Icon

What a terrible experience @ the hospital! I am so sorry you had to go thru that!

Hopefully it was just a virus! I'll keep praying for her!

Thank goodness the fever is staying down. I would complain about that hospital. How dare they make you wait like that. That's just awful. Chat Icon
