12-18 mths...what do your kids eat? protein, snax, etc0
again...trying to find some more ideas.
I've discovered that she likes chicken & cheese quesadillas or plain cheese ones.
Isn't into her chicken tenders or meatballs much though.....

Re: 12-18 mths...what do your kids eat? protein, snax, etc0
Well, that last few days she has been on a food strike, but USUALLY she eats soy chicken nuggets, soy hot dogs, veggie burgers, pasta with soy ground beef, beans (minestrone soup), she eats a LOT of hummus - by the gobfuls, and it has a lot of protein, fish (salmon or tilapia - broiled with some spices), yogurt with mashed bananas, cheese and occasionally, peanut butter. They have these great snacks in Israel called Bamba that we picked up for her - kind of like cheese puffs but with peanut butter instead of the cheese. She loves those...

Dino Nuggets (not my first choice but it's what she eats. She won't eat real chicken). She loves chili, bean soups, taco soups, etc so I try to make things like that often for protein. If we got to Wendy's I order her chili, not a kids meal. Eggs are hit or miss. So protein at breakfast is tough. She does like this cereal called Wheatabix. Its a biscuit that comes out kind of like oatmeal when you mush it in milk. I warm it with cinnamon and she loves it. I can't imagine what it tastes like but hey she eats so I don't complain. It's also a good amount of milk since she doesn't drink milk much. I also buy mini bagels and melt a piece of cheese on it and she usually eats 1/2 of that. Grilled cheese is good too.
For snacks she lives on fruit. Grapes, clementines and strawberries are her favorites. She also has a bowl out all day with yogurt raisins and goldfish. Some days she eats it up and others it juts sits there.
She is a very inconsistent eater.

Almost always I make them from scratch. I do buy some Amy's organics just to have on hand but she really prefers the homemade so I just make big batches. I guess I never looked at sodium content of things much. Maybe I should. Overall I try to buy healthy, organic, unprocessed foods for her so I just figure it all evens out in the end.

all these ideas are great...
and also Baked Beans comes to mind for the protein, at that age DS would daintily eat one at a time... now he shovels it in! Can eat a whole can.
