I just read that one of the victims, Jessica Redfield, narrowly escaped being a victim at another shooting in Toronto while on vacation. Here is her blog post about it.
I can't even imagine what her final thoughts were when this scumbag opened fire.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of all of the victims in this senseless tragedy.

It's weird to me because I kept waiting for something to happen .. and then today I hear this. Previously people have been injured on set and one stuntman died..in addition to ledger.

I really feel like never leaving the house with my kids. A few weeks ago we were getting ices at Ralphs in Lindenhurst and 2 hours later that girl was killed by the drunk driver right in front of where we were and now these babies died at the movies. I feel like no place is safe now. I can sit here and give my kids organic food in BPA free bowls, use the safest sunscreen and lots of it, and every other thing that keeps them safe and healthy BUT I can't control the actions of others and that's what scares the crap out of me, that all these steps I'm taking that I feel will protect my kids could mean nothing if some wackjob starts shooting up their school, the movies, the pizza place, and other place that was "safe."
Makes me sick to my stomach.
ITA. Well said. Thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in this sick sick tradgedy. I cannot IMAGINE what must be going through the family members minds. What was going through that sick fcuks mind when he did that? Did he do it ofr sh1ts and giggles? Was he sick? WTF is wrong with people? From that guy who ate the other guys face off, to the complete asshole who killed that poor innocent girl now this You are very right, no place is sfae and no one is to be trusted

I am so incredibly sorry for the families of the victims. Their senseless loss of life is just horrific to me. They are all in my thoughts and prayers. As for the murderer, may he rot. I too don't understand how someone can be allowed to amass all of the guns/ammo/tear gas and not arouse suspicion. I really wish there was a law that prevented average people from being able to get tear gas and the components to make explosives.

This is how I feel all the time. My husband literally thinks I am going crazy because I am always so anxious about the horrific things that I hear on the news. I can do all the right things for my children but one person can take that all away in an instant. It's just so unfair.

What really upsets me is that he did this, obviously REALLY planned. He suited up for war so he was planning on surviving and he didn't flee the scene so he was planning on getting caught. Then he TELLS police that his apartment has bombs so they go there. THANK the LORD that they didn't just rush right into that apartment because he has booby trapped the apartment to such an extent that if it was tripped apparently the report is it would have blown up THAT apartment building and the building next to it. Meaning that more innocent people would have been killed. I just can't stop thinking of this tragedy it makes me sick to my stomach.

I know the mom let on something was up after the fact, but how does someone fly under the radar and then go THIS batshit crazy???
I feel I can't see the movie woot thinking about this.
This hits home for me. My 5 yr old wants to see this movie. His could have happened anywhere at anytime. Is sicko could easily have lived close to us....

Such a sad and tragic story. You can't even go to a movie anymore and not worry about what some nut could do. I agree, he was a sick individual who planned it out so well ( where, the movie, time of movie, bullet proof vest). How could a person plan something so sick ? My heart goes out to all those affected by this!

A few years ago a guy opened fire in a gym during a Zumba class. I remember thinking how you couldn't go to the gym without fearing for your life. And now a movie. Life is hard enough and people need these little joys in their lives and they can't even get it because of sickos out there.

What I don't understand is how there is no big brother aspect to buying guns and ammo, especially in such large w quantities. I don't get e why stores can sell semi auto weapons. I get guns for hunting. I get them for self protection. But that's it. How a are some of these guns legal to sell.there's no need whatsoever for them. There is no over see-er to the credit card companies when someone is buying all that ammo and then proceeds to buy protective gear? I get a hold on My credit card if I spend more than usual.someone IS Watching our spending but for the wrong reasons.
