1.5 year old dd.. wont eat anything.. help?
besides junk food.. wants chips and cookies. I was able to get meals into her.. but all of sudden is refusing all meals. What can I do?
My sis thinks shes either teething (which I think I see her eye teeth on top possibly coming in.. but when I tried to really looks she bit me I dont think she did on purpose) Or its the new change with have a new baby home.
I could really use some suggestions on what to do.. She was barely good at eating as it was.. now I cant get her to eat anything.

Re: 1.5 year old dd.. wont eat anything.. help?
welcome to my world...My son barely eats and Im close to making a Ped appnt about it. If he doesnt eat more then a few mouthfuls for a few meals in a row ( he can go almost 2 full days with just a few bites), he will then eat almost anything I put in front of him, but I just knwo this is not healthy for him ....

Do not give in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Serve regular meals. When she is hungry, she WILL eat. She will not starve to death.
I know this sounds harsh. But its true. I have a VERY picky 3 year old. I make dinner and he REFUSES to eat, so I leave it on his plate, and his plate sits on the table, and when he tells me hours later that he is hungry, I warm up his dinner and he eats it. There have been nights when he has gone to bed without dinner. But I refuse to allow him to eat cookies for dinner.
Picky eaters are HARD

I notice that my picky eater does better when she can eat at her own pace. For her, that means a bite here and there and it may take her an hour to finish her plate
I do NOT stress about food, that is one battle I will not fight, she will eat when she is hungry

I agree with the above poster NOT to give in. I read somewhere that the child will know you will giive in and wait for that cookie
DS is a terrible eater--but I serve him what I want to serve him and if he doesnt eat, he doesnt eat
They wont starve and so far my ped said he is not worried. I also give a multivitamin every morning

My child is younger, but I've noticed the same. Tonight we all had dinner together, and he fed himself, took his time, and I was amazed at how much food he ate.
Teething can hurt appetite as well. Maybe soft foods/yogurt will work now?Try not to give in with the chips, or maybe offer crackers or something a little healthier. If he is hungry and not getting junk food, he'll eat the regular food in time.

and yes that is another thing, if mikayla does not eat her dinner (at least a portion of it), she does NOT get any snacks, period

I agree with the others about not giving in. If DD does not want what we are giving her, she does not eat. My SILs ped told her so long as the kids get a good meal every other day, that is good enough. She will eat when she is hungry - GL!

Sorry to hijack but I still crack up thinking of what your DD ate that day. Mushroom puffs....about 2 slices of pizza, brownies, cookies....she ate enough that day to last her a week!

DS is 18mo & doing this stubborn thing with food also. My ped said to keep trying & if he really doesn't eat anything all day, give him a pediasure in the evening. This way you know he/she's getting some calories

Re: 1.5 year old dd.. wont eat anything.. help?
Well dinner didnt go well either. I got a little bit of yogurt (yobaby yogurt with the added cereal) in her, then she asked for a nannie (bannana) she just ended up mushing it with her hands. DH brought her home Mcdonalds hoping she will eat the nuggets. She took a few bites.. but I would like to get her off fried foods along with cookies and chips.
I just feel like this is all my fault.

Re: 1.5 year old dd.. wont eat anything.. help?
my son spent 4 months right after his second birthday eating nothing but chocolate chip cookies and milk.
granted we have medical issues that make the doctors a bit more cautious with his eating, but his ped told me, if he's eating, doesn't matter what it is. (he had severe hypoglycemia as a baby)
even our endocrinologist said, try milkshakes.. they have milk, protein, fat, etc... even if they are high in sugar.
basically they just wanted to know he was getting enough calories throughout the day, they didn't care what he got.
he's still a lousy eater, but we have a better shot if we stick to his basic 4 or 5 foods.
oh, and after 4 months of cookies, he slowly started to eat the things he used to eat before.... (yogurt, granola bars, chicken nuggets)
and i can say we spent 3 years in special ed preschools with feeding therapists, and speech therapists, and anyone else you can think of to get him to widen his repetoire of food.
we managed to add one or two foods into his list. 3 others he might eat a couple of bites once in a while... but its rare. and this was after i was told 100 times, that if you offer it enough times teh kids will learn to eat the item.. (not in our case)
oh and mine would just refuse to eat entirely if he didn't like the choices given. and it wouldn't bother him, but to make sure he didn't end up hypoglycemic, we had to give him something.
i know, not the same situation, but sometimes cookies are the better choice.

DD is more enthusiastic about eating if I put a little ketchup on her plate -- she gets to "dip" whatever into the ketchup and then eats it.
Maybe this could help??

dd won't eat anything either.....she is 17 months old and is teething like mad. I just offer her what we are eating and make sure that she drinks milk, yogurt and cheese.....the rest I hope just falls into place!

Tried.. she dipped it in, touched her lips and made a face.. then dropped that piece of food and stopped eating all together.. This was when she was eating pretty good.
This morning she came to me pointing to her top teeth.. she kinda let me look in.. this time didnt bite me. It looks like the left eye tooth is trying to come out and since its btwn teeth she cant help get it out by bitting on things. this is the reason not eating.

Re: 1.5 year old dd.. wont eat anything.. help?
DS definitely has his days where he doesn't want anything other than cereal bars and crackers. It's usually because he's teething or not feeling well. We spoke to our ped about it and he said it's okay for him to have occassional days where he doesn't want to eat regular meals. I'd talk to the ped and see what he/she recommends.
