16 month olds (give or take)- nap question

How long does your dc nap for?

Jacen used to take a 3 hour nap (1 nap a day). But now he's actually sleeping more at night- about 12 hours. So he's been taking 1 1/2- 2 1/2 hour naps (depending on the day), which makes sense.

He's also not going down for his naps as easily as he once was. Not sure what that's about. Chat Icon

Re: 16 month olds (give or take)- nap question

Aidan just turned 12 months old last week. He has been down to one nap for about 2 months now. Lately, his naps are anywhere from one to two hours. Rarely will he sleep 3 hours. I did notice that he is generally sleeping more at night (about an hour longer).

Hope this helps!

Re: 16 month olds (give or take)- nap question

DS is fighting me more and more on the morning nap. He sleeps anywhere from 11-12.5 hours at night. Most days I usually can get at least 2 hours worth of naps out of him.

Re: 16 month olds (give or take)- nap question

You have all the questions I was just about to ask!

DS has been sleeping slightly less for naps too. He usually would sleep about 11 hours at night then close to 3 for a nap. He's sleeping closer to 12 at night and probably a little more than 2 for naps.

I was just about to get annoyed that is naps are getting slightly shorter but I didn't realize his nighttime sleep was getting longer....

Re: 16 month olds (give or take)- nap question

Kaydyn sleeps from 9:30/10 at night until 7:30am weekdays. On the weekends she'll sleep later (sometimes until 8:30/9)

During the week she naps between 2-3 hours at my ILs. On the weekends we're lucky if we get 1 1/2 hours.

Re: 16 month olds (give or take)- nap question

My DS sleeps from for about 1.5-2.0 hours. And getting him down for a nap is not easy..he fights it. He is good when we put him down for the night, but not for the naps. But If he falls asleep in the stroller or car its pretty painless.

Also, since he switched to one nap, he has been going to bed much earlier...usually between 7 or 8.

I also think i have the only 16 month old that STILL is NOT sleeping through the night!!!!! I tried CIO and stuck with it and its still does not work!!! I give up.

Oh no you don't! Chat Icon Jacen has never STTN for more than 8 nights in a row. Chat Icon

Recently he was waking up and thought he may be cold. So i put a bigger size fleece footie pj's over his regular pjs and has been STTN ever since. (i'm not a mind reader kid Chat Icon)

It's always something with my child... so you're not alone. Chat Icon

Re: 16 month olds (give or take)- nap question

I’m not at home so I have no real control over naps.

I’ve asked and heard she is no trouble but I can’t believe it.

About a month or so ago I was amazed she slept 12hrs one day. It truly shocked me. From then on, her daytime (daycare) naps had shown they were getting shorter until it was down to just one. She was also going to bed at 8-830!

Then midway through last week we noticed she’s back to two naps and just last night, I fell asleep on the living room floor before she did (10:30pm). I hate that she stays awake so long. I got spoiled and loved her being in bed before 9pm.

She has always resisted sleep.

Oh well, back to remembering this is only for a few years of her life and one day I will hope, dream and wish my only problem with her is when she goes to sleep and for how long.

*sigh*

We are in the same exact position here. I let him fight though - I turn down the monitor.Chat Icon because I know he needs sleep! He will go down (with a fight of course) between 7 and 8 pm and sleep until 7:30am...so no complaints here!

Oh same here. Once we shut his door, we do not go in. He doesn't usually cry that long anymore. I think he's starting to give up and realize we're not coming. Chat Icon

Yeah jacen goes to bed at 7pm and sleeps until 7am usually. Then he takes a nap at 12:30-2:30/3. Chat Icon

Re: 16 month olds (give or take)- nap question

DS is almost 16 months old.

he goes to bed at 7:30/8pm and wakes up anywhere from 6:30-7am (sometimes earlier but we let him cry in his crib until he falls back asleep)

he naps from about 9am-10:30am and then about 2-4:30pm (give or take--sometimes it's an hour, sometimes 2.5 hours)

it seems like DS is one of the few that still takes 2 naps. i know he's not ready to cut one out yet though
