16 week old seems to have stranger anxiety.

I cannot bring my 16 week old son around anyone without him flipping out and screaming! He was colicky for the first 3 and a half months and that seems to be calming down a bit now (even though today was a nightmare!) Whenever I take him to anyone elses house, he seems to look terrified and cries most of the time. I'm going crazy because I have to return to work in two weeks and don't know how I'm going to leave him at a sitter's house.
Also, his sleep schedule seems to be very odd. He sleeps 10 hours at night, and then cat naps ALL day long. He takes 20-40 minute naps every hour or two throughout the day. When he is awake, he's somewhat content, but only if he's in his own home. I'm so sad because I just want my baby to be happy. Every time I bring him anywhere, I have to hear comments about how unhappy he is. It's just so upsetting. Did anyone experience anything like this? Also, can colic behavior disappear for days and then return for a day or two? That just seems to be the situation this weekend.
I know I'm all over the place with this email but I'm a first time mom who is losing her mind!!!

I'm sorry -- I don't really have any advice -- I'm a first time mom myself and didn't experience this. I wouldn't worry too much about the sleeping -- at that age my baby was still taking lots of naps throughout the day. You might want to have him spend some time at the sitters for the next two weeks so he gets used to her.

I hope things get better for you!

my ds was exactly like this..we would get 12 hours a nite, and then not a nap in site all day...just a bunch of crying with people telling me how tempermental and miserable he was..Chat Icon the dr kept telling me that one morning, i would wake up..and it would just be silent..and i would have a happy baby..and i didnt believe him because it would go away for a day or two then return.
By 4 months, i remember waking up, and just noticing something "different" about him..it was the END of all the colic..
youre almost there!! i know its frustrating and depressing, but i promise youre almost done, and colicky babies are the EASIEST toddlers ever..it cant get any worse then crying all day Chat Icon teething and potty training is something that you will laugh at when the time comes compared to what youve been through!!
hang in there!!
