18 month old - day 3 of new bedtime routine
I could use some suggestions, we HAVE to get our DD into a new bedtime routine as bedtime has become quite the struggle! ACK!
She still takes a bottle at bedtime (that's the next thing to try and change but I figured start the new changes slowly).
We just have always put her to bed "asleep" not "sleeping" and now, when I try to put her in her crib "sleeping" she just POPS right back up and starts crying.
Do I let her CIO? Will that teach her to fall asleep on her own in the crib?
The last two nights we've been giving her a bath, diming hte lights, soothing music and books, and then the bottle but if she's not fast asleep one of our arms after the bottle and we put her down, UP UP UP she cries.
What to do?

Re: 18 month old - day 3 of new bedtime routine
may be time to CIO. Mason has been on the same sched for a while and he's 20 months dinner then milk in sippy around 5:30 bath at 6:30 then cuddle time close to 7 he brushes his teeth books and then put him in awake around 7 and he goes to sleep on his own he does still have paci's in the crib
We turn on his sound machine and projector. He looks up at it and then rolls over and goes to sleep. Although when I watch him he does get up, walk around sometimes, put his legs through the bars, etc. Then eventually goes to sleep and usually out by no later than 7:15 - 7:30 the lastest What time do you put her in?

Re: 18 month old - day 3 of new bedtime routine
We have just started a new bedtime routine with DD as well. She usually went down asleep sometimes groggy but stayed asleep. Now I am putting her in fully awake. The first night she just went down and last night she screamed and cried. I let her cry for a few minutes she finally put her head down and went to sleep. It kills me but I am hoping a few weeks of this routine she will understand what's going on.

Re: 18 month old - day 3 of new bedtime routine
Well I've been putting her down at 8 p.m. (she gets up around 6 a.m. !!! ACK)
What kind of projector do you have? Maybe I should try that?
I've always rocked her in the rocking chair with a bottle, but have read that's not a good thing to do? Why is a nighttime bottle so bad?

IMO you need to get rid of the bottle first. Do you brush her teeth before bed? Maybe substitute bottle with teeth brushing and then book then bed.
Good luck

I think at that age they shouldn't have sugar on their teeth b4 bed. That's why it's important we brush his teeth then books, music and bed. It's a bad habit. Also, since we both have the eating issue I wanted to get him off the bottle. Took some time b/c he liked his milk in the bottle at room temp, but we slowly transitioned him and now it's cold in a sippy. Which is also why we do this after dinner. The warm milk or formula helped him sleep, but he no longer gets that. I have this one... homedics sound spa lullaby
we got it at Bed Bath and Beyond though. not target. they have them all over
