1st Appointment Emotional Ride
So, I posted earlier that I was worried about going for a first appointment at 6 weeks 4 days. The appointment was this morning. The tech came in to do a sono and couldn't find anything. I started to get upset/nervous, but not yet freaking out. The tech said she was going to go get a more experienced tech. I waited for about 15 minutes which seemed like forever - they kept opening the door and about three people were standing outside looking nervous/unhappy - one was the original tech and one was a student who had come into the room to observe. So the 15 minutes is up and a new tech comes in and says they are going to have the doctor come in - ok - now I'm really getting upset - because that can't be good news - right? So, another agonizing 15 minutes go by and finally the doctor comes in and actually finds a sac and a heartbeat. He said the heartbeat is on the low side at 110 - so while I'm so happy they found something, I feel like I am going to worry for two straight weeks until they see me again. I know there are so many ladies out there who have had such difficulties, so I don't want to complain or make something out of nothing - but I found the whole morning to be rough and I just want everything to be ok.

I'm so sorry you went through that. It sounds like torture! I would be pretty upset if they had me waiting so long in such a sensitive situation. Not to mention, did they really need to bring in a student when you're probably freaking out. I would expect them to be a little more sensitive and do everything they could to get the doctor in as soon as they could. In the end, hopefully this will soon be forgotten and all will be well. So glad the doctor was able to find the hb. Even if it was low, it's still there! GL!

That stinks but I can understand their point of view too ... the sono tech isn't really supposed to tell you anything so she had to get a doctor. And the doctor was probably meeting with somebody else so he/she couldn't get to you sooner. Frustrating though, that they put you through that.
That said, I think you got good news in the end so congratulations Just because it's on the low side doesn't mean anything is wrong.

Being one of the woman on here who have had problems let me just say that we are all here for support and everyones struggle is different and just as important as the last never feel like your not allowed to be upset. Lots of hugs to you. It is possible that the heart just started beating my cousin last baby had a very low heartbeat and is now 5 months old. Keep us posted <3

Hang in there! Most likely the baby was in a difficult spot, hence the tech not finding it immediately and therefore the heartbeat may not be completely accurate. It could be stronger than that but it's just not being picked up easily. Hoping all the best for you!!

Re: 1st Appointment Emotional Ride
Thanks for all the kind thoughts/words - it is really helpful. I have calmed down a bit after the appointment and I am going to try not to stress too much before my next appointment in two weeks.
