1st appointment tomorrow with new Dr.- What should i ask?

so tomorrow is my first appt to confirm pregnancy. i had to switch dr's in my practice because mine doesnt deliver.

are they any specific questions i should ask? i feel like theres a bunch of things i should be asking and im drawing a blank.

ask whatever your heart desires to ask! the doctors usually come prepared knowing the most FAQs (e.g., what isn't safe to eat, can I still exercise regularly, when should I tell people). we asked all sorts of odd questions, and made sure to come prepared knowing our immediate family's medical history. no question is too silly, and if you have any questions after your appointment, you have 9 months to ask .

My OB had a "book" that she hands out during your first appointment. It included a journal for me to write anything I wanted it. A guideline for foods to eat/avoid. A brief overview of what to expect while pregnant.

The only questions I would ask are what hospitals they deliver at. What is their schedule for appointments and sonos. What genetic testing they do and when are the tests administered.

congrats and good luck!

usually the docs will cover all the bases with you at the first appt. they will draw blood (or send you for bloodwork) and ask about how you are doing and if you've had cramping, spotting, etc.

it's actually usually a pretty quick visit and they will likely ask you if you want a script for prenatals and maybe give some samples and give you a food list of what not to have.

did you DH's come with you to your first appointment? mine wants to. i hope he doesnt feel weird in the office and coming back there with me lol

it stinks about the family history thing because i want to ask my mom for details but i dont want to tell her yet about the pregnancy and i think shes gonna get suspicious

Looks like the PP covered the basics. Your doctor will basically know what it is you're wondering about and then ask if there's anything else you'd like to talk about. Don't worry, it's your first pregnancy but it's not there's!

As for DH, yes mine came to my first appt and any appt where there's a sono. I'm sure yours won't feel out of place, where I go there are always plenty of DHs there with their pregnant DWs.
