Re: 1st bday cake?
Matthew had cake for the first time on his 1st birthday. He actually wasn't even touching it when I put it in front of him. I had to take his hand and smush it into the cake...LOL I was like "come on touch the cake, make a mess"...LOL but he wasn't doing anything until I got the ball rolling by taking his hand and putting it into the cake. Then he was licking his hands and stuff...LOL

Re: 1st bday cake?
My DD had her first piece of cake on her birthday and YES I did worry about allergies. I got her yellow cake, whipped cream frosting with fresh banana & custard filling. I figured these were the closest combination of things she had aready eaten. It was YUMMY !

Re: 1st bday cake?
Other than chocolate and strawberries, most kids have already eaten table foods that contain the same ingredients as cake I think.

Re: 1st bday cake?
DD had a little cake at her Christening party b4 her 1st birthday. I just gave her a taste and she wasn't fond of it. She doesn't really like cake....now give her a cookie and we are talking a whole different ballgame.
