1st birthday cake
OK, I bought the #1 mold and want to try and decorate my DS's cake for his party. What kind if cake should I use? And what kind of icing? I am clueless and should have though of this before I ordered the pan! Help!!!! Thanks

Thats my favorite too!! But I don't know if the chocolate icing will work if I try to decorate it. Why did I decide to do this and not just order a cake??

Wilton cake pans usually come with a booklet that gives you decorating instructions and ideas. There's also a recipe in there for vanilla buttercream icing, which is great for decorating. You can add some chocolate to it to make it chocolate if you want. Store bought Pillsbury icing won't hold up well for decorating, but you can use it for a filling. The pan should also tell you how much cake you need (if it takes a standard cake mix or 2 boxes, etc). I fyou don't have this info, you can get it on the Wilton website, as well as tips on decorating. Good Luck!
