1st generation B&W nook people
I have had my nook for over 1 year now. And it started to "act up". Like I have to keep registering every time the battery run out. It never did that before.
It's annoying!
Did that happen to anyone?

Do you have a warranty? Go to the store. Mine was acting nuts and we did some kind of reset.
It was better but I wound up getting a replacement.
Don't go through customer service on the phone. It's better to go in person. I go to Manhasset and they are so helpful. They have a special way to get thru to customer service.

I have the B&W wifi only - I think maybe people consider that Nook 1.5. 
I don't have the registering problem and haven't noticed any other funkyness.

Ha - I just had the same thing happen to me.
It doesn't really disrupt anything other than I can't go to the "reading now" feature.
I am switching to a Kindle soon though.

I'm on my 3rd...yes 3rd 1st Gen nook in less than a year. Furious with BN and their clearly defective product right now.
When this one breaks I'll be SOL b/c it will be past the 1 year mark even though they have redesigned the whole Nook b/c the 1st gen was a piece of garbage. Love the Nook concept but not this device.
