1st IVF Cycle
Hi All, Started my low-stim IVF cycle on 5/14 with daily Dexamethasone & Letrazole - 5mg/ 5days. On 5/18 - saw 1 small follicle, went back today and the follicle only measured 11mm. Going back again on Monday to see if it can make it to 14mm. I am trying not to get discouraged, but not getting a good feeling. Our insurance does not cover anything, so it is all out of pocket, thus the reasoning for the low-stim protocol. In addition, my stupid ovaries are so hard to see and each sonogram I am so uncomfortable. I know I am just starting what can be a long process, so I feel silly complaining. How do you ladies keep from getting discouraged throughout?

Re: 1st IVF Cycle
I am not familiar with low- stim ivf, so im not sure if what you are experiencing is the norm. Do you ovulate on your own? Develop one egg on your own? Is there any way to up the dose, instead of 5mg? Because i have taken 5 for jus an IUI... Is an IUI an option for you, it is cheaper?

Re: 1st IVF Cycle
I think I ovulate on my own, but don't always get a + when using OPKs. So not 100% sure. Initial 3cd testing shows that I may have poor responders and age is definitely a factor. My DH has morphology issues, so IUI is a no-go for us. Dr. says we will regroup on Monday to see what's in store.
Thanks for listening!

Re: 1st IVF Cycle
If you arent mostly get + on opk you might not be ovulating on your own. I am not familiar with your ivf protocol. Are you going on any stims past that? I hope all works for you. Can you fill us in a little more on your protocol.. ER est date and everything.
Best of luck and baby dust.

Re: 1st IVF Cycle
This would be my fear with low stim- not producing enough eggs, and then having the IVF being a bust and STILL having to pay for it! Age is a factor here too, and we are paying out of pocket for IVF also, so I am going to try to be aggressive as possible with the meds. The more mature eggs you have, the better your chances of having them fertilizing KWIM?
Have you asked about your doctor's office donating meds to you? Or even post here, sometimes women have extra !
What clinic are you going to? How many cycles have they monitored you?
Day 3 showed poor responding to what?
