1st tme homebuyer tax credit

I was under the impression that if you made over $150k joint but under $175k joint you still get something, just not the whole $8000? Is this correct, if so does anyone have the article that said this, cause I could have sworn I read it somewhere? TIA

I think it was under $170, but that was before November '09.

Did your tax person say something different?

We are in contract now so I know this for 100%

Your income combined has to be below 225K, you need to be in contract by April 30th and close before June 30th and you're entitled to the whole 8K

That's okay though---the first time Homebuyer Credit is for first time buyers in 2009 and thru April 30, 2010.

This is the page from the IRS website, from here you can find tons of information.

Link

Just remember, you must file a paper return to get this credit, e-filing is not possible, due to the paperwork that must be submitted.

ETA: For a home bought before Nov. 1, 2009, the MAGI (Modified AGI) can not exceed $170K for those who are MFJ
