2 1/2 yr old screaming at naps/bedtime

Anyone else go through this? My DD is 2 1/2 and used to be an awesome sleeper. At bed time we always do our typical routine, bath, milk, books, bed. I used to be able to put her right in her crib say good night and walk out. It started Thursday night at bed time, I put her in walked out no problem, then all of the sudden she got up and started screaming bloody murder like I have never heard from her before. We were CIO people so I let her do that and she ended up crawling out! I went in and put her back in and she reached her arms out for me to take her out. I told her no and tried to calm her but nothing worked. It's been like this ever since. She screams now at naps too. The first 2 nights me and DH were so confused and frustrated. She tells us to sit in her glider and watch her. So instead of fighting it I sit until she falls asleep and then walk out. Only problem is if and when she wakes during the night and sees one of us not there, she starts screaming again. I don't get it! My normally awesome sleeper has left the building! I'm at such a loss. Some people have said that it's a phase and to just ride it out. I'm hoping that's the case. DH wants to switch her crib to the toddler bed, but she will sleep in the crib just as long as one of us is in the room watching her. Anyone go through this and can help me off the ledge lol

Also forgot to mention she has a pretty bad cold. It started a couple days ago with a runny nose and last night I put her in bed with me bc she was up all night coughing. Maybe it's that?

Molars?
When dd starting doing this around that time we gave up naps and everything went back to normal

Did you ask her if her ears hurt her? Maybe ear infection because of all the fluid?

Separation anxiety. My ds does this every now and then. It's a phase. My ds is slowly coming out if it. Last night I was actually able to talk to him and tell him I would be right next door.

Thank you ladies. One week later and she's still screaming. I'm hoping its a short phase!

Did you try cutting her nap time? Maybe not fully but shorter then fully?

Dd did this when she was giving up her nap at 21/2
