2 consecutive m/c's

Hi Ladies,

I just found this site and I am glad that I did.

My husband and I got pregnant 2x within a few months of each other and both times I m/c'd around 5 1/2 weeks. My gyno is sending me to LI IVF and I am meeting with Dr. Kreiner in Melville.

I am hoping that something can be found that is easily fixed or something that can be monitored. I was nervous the 2nd time I got pregnant and wanted to go for blood work right away but my gyno office wouldn't do that until I reached 8 weeks (which of course never happened).

I am just wondering if anyone had a similar experience with 2 recurrent m/c's and if a cause was found and was able to be adjusted or helped to have a healthy pregnancy.

Thanks in Advance...

Re: 2 consecutive m/c's

So sorry to hear about your m/c's. I just had one myself in December. I am a patient of Dr. Kreiner's in the Melville office. I actually just got my period yesterday so I will be starting my first cycle with them after my D&C on Monday.

This was my first m/c. Dr. Kreiner said since it was my first, he wasn't going to do any additional testing now, but i'm sure for you, he will investigate. My problem is getting pregnant due to PCOS so that's what I see him for.

I hope your problem is an easy fix like just progesterone support or something.

Feel free to ask me any questions you may have about LI IVF or Dr. K.

Re: 2 consecutive m/c's

I have had multiple losses. The causes were different each time, but we did find out I have many clotting issues. We found my issues through Dr.Braverman who does a full RPL (recurrent pregnancy loss) panel.

I highly recommend him or Dr.Tortoriello (in NYC) who is also very knowledgable about recurrent losses.

Hi, thanks so much for your response! I'm actually meeting with Dr Kreiner in about 2 weeks so we'll see how it goes... Keep us updated here on how your experience goes with him & the office, & I'll do the same.

Yes I am expecting them to do that panel of testing on me as well. I have read that it could be a clotting issue. I live on Long Island so a doctor in New York City is not too convenient for me, but thank you for the advice.

2 consecutive m/c's

I had two back to back mc, my dr ran the recurrent pregnancy loss panel and found clotting issues. I went on to have two Ds and pregnant with my third. It can happen! Good luck

Re: 2 consecutive m/c's

I had two consecutive m/c's in December and May. I went for all sorts of testing in July and found no logical explanations. We went to a RS of NY and saw Dr. Stelling. I was very happy with him, but still no explanations to the cause of our losses. I'm told we're both perfectly healthy. So for us it's apparently just a matter of trial and error.

Oh wow! Yes my Gyno told me that after all testing, etc.. it may be inconclusive and I realize this.
So have you been able to get pregnant again?

Re: 2 consecutive m/c's

I had two miscarriages last year, both were around 5 weeks like you. I'm also seeing Dr. Kreiner after my OB recommended I see a specialist.

I had a water sono and endo biopsy done. Right after my biopsy I learned I am actually pregnant. I am 5 weeks now, so by no means out of the woods, but I have been getting betas and had an ultrasound already and everything looks good. I'm praying this one sticks. And at the very least my numbers have been monitored throughout so that may give us a clue to the problem if I have a miscarriage again.

So great to hear! Congratulations! Are you being monitored by Dr. Kreiner or by your regular gynecologist?

Re: 2 consecutive m/c's

By Dr. Kreiner right now. I have another ultrasound scheduled for next Mon and I suspect I'll be released to my OB after that if it looks good.

Re: 2 consecutive m/c's

i had two back to back miscarriages. One at 8 weeks (natural) and then a second, which was a blighted ovum actually, at 10 weeks which needed a d&c. I had an hsg and miscarriage panel completed, all with normal results, my Dr said it may just be a fluke. i went on to have a healthy pregnancy, DS is now 2 months old.
good luck!

Not at this point, no. But we haven't been "actively" trying. We've just been playing it by ear and whatever happens, happens. But we haven't really been tracking ovulation, fertility, etc.

Re: 2 consecutive m/c's

I had 3 MCs in 6 mos - 4wks, 5wks, 7wks (back to back cycles, then skipped a cycle and it happened again.) After the 2nd I had the blood panel done with my OB and they said I had MTFHR but not the type that causes MC. I had been charting and knew I had a short luteal phase so I suspected that was the issue. OB put me on Folgard and baby aspirin and had me come in for a progesterone test at 7DPO the next time we tried. She also suggested an HSG but I put that off and wound up with MC#3. At that point, I consulted an RE, had the HSG and started a monitored cycle. RE did nothing but monitor me that month but he obviously brought me luck because I got PG and it stuck... that little miracle will be 3yrs old in June. We still dont know why that was happening but someone told me sometimes the HSG eliminates blockages that might be have been causing issues...

Good luck to you Chat Icon
