2 kids in daycare?
we are talking about #2 (with all the other baby fever going around) - however we would def have to have both kids in daycare in some way. For those of you that have 2 DC's in daycare/sitter all day, what do you do? Do you have them in a daycare center or use a home center/nanny ??
We don't have family nearby who can watch them, so that isn't really an option
Just looking for what other people are doing so we can get an idea..
We haven't explored the option of one of us going P/T, but it would probably be DH, since I make more. Anyone else's DH take care of the kids a day or 2 during the week?
Again, just bouncing ideas off you ladies as to what you do to 'make it work'!! Thanks!

Re: 2 kids in daycare?
We have no family around either to watch the kids, so both of them would have to go into daycare.
It would cost us 2K a month to do it. For me, it wouldn't be worth it when a big portion of my take home would go to daycare. My kids are 14 months apart.
My 2nd pg wasn't planned and alot of sacrafices had to be made, but now i'm home with them and $$$ isn't easy but we make it work
you will def always make it work

Re: 2 kids in daycare?
When, if (god willing) there are two I don't see how we'd afford daycare for two. We are going to look into an Au Pair when there is more than one child. It seems much more affordable.

Re: 2 kids in daycare?
Yup, next year it will be over 2K a month for us for daycare.
Yes, it's a lot of money for 4 years... over 100K when you add it all up but it's necessary. My job has a pension and much better health insurance, even though DH makes more than I do. I have 10 years towards the pension system. It would be crazy for me to quit a teaching job now and gamble trying to get back into the job market in a few years... there are way too many unemployed new teachers that they can hire for a lot less money. Yes, the next four years are going to be expensive for us but it's the way it has to be.
It would be about the same amount to hire a nanny. I might have to go that route if I can't get two placements by next Sept. but I'm not loving the idea for a lot of reasons, JMO.

Re: 2 kids in daycare?
We were in the same situation. For me as a teacher, I can take an extended child care leave (unpaid of course) up until my kids are four. We ended up having three in that period of time and i have two more years to decide to go back or not. For us it would have been 2200 a month for daycare, which for us was not worth the expense. By the time I have to decide to go back or not my two oldest will be in full time school so not so much of an expense. Was it hard to give up the second income, yes, but it worked out for us.
