2 under 2 (or close in age) changing table and rocker question?
So we're planning to move DD out of the nursery to put the new baby in there. My question for others who have done this is where do you change the older child if you keep the changing table in the nursery? Unless we're not at home I dress and change DD on the changing table every time, otherwise she'd run away. It's an easy way to keep her contained and it's more comfortable on my back. I'm even debating on trying to buy a new dresser for DD's room that I could use as a changing table if I don't manage to potty train her before the new baby comes.
Also, if you have a rocker/recliner in the nursery, did you just keep it there? I still use the rocker/recliner with DD before every nap and at bedtime, along with random times during the day to read stories. I will hate to not have one in her new room but neither room is huge so I can't see keeping a big chair in there long term. Did anyone buy a second rocker? We got a great buy on our first one (it was on sale for $200 but normally the ones I like around around $500).

I see you have no responses... so I'm going to just throw mine out here:
I have them BOTH in the same nursery. It's easier & they don't wake each other up (which was hard to believe).
Since we have a boy & girl... they will be in different rooms eventually & we have space... but it's easier this way.

I'm about to have 3 under 2 and they are all staying in the same nursery until the twins are out of cribs. It's just easier for everything right now. I have boy/girl twins and am having another boy, but eventually we will move the boys to a room and DD will have their own room.

My two girls will share a room, right now dd2 sleeps in with us. I change them both on the same changing table. No way could I change dd1 who is 22 months anywhere else she would run.

Re: 2 under 2 (or close in age) changing table and rocker question?
I just switched DS who is 15 months old to his new room, and by next tuesday baby #2 will be here to take over the nursery. I had a dresser already that was the size of the nursery changing table so that helped out. I also like to rock my DS sometimes at night if he can't seem to settle down on his own, so my parents are giving me an old wooden rocking chair that i will put in DS room and keep the semi-new rocker and ottoman in the nursery. So i basically have the same things in each room.

I have a changing pad on top of both their dressers-not a separate changing table-so they each have their own changing area.
As for the glider, I ended up buying a used one off a friend of mine for DD's nursery since I still use the one in DS's room to rock him every night.

Thanks ladies! As far as putting them both in the same room, unless I move out furniture I couldn't fit another bed or crib in there. I think I'll do the dresser changing table, that's what we have in the nursery as is. I'm going to have to figure out the rocker, maybe I'll just look for a cheap wooden one or hope for a good Black Friday sale (that's how I got my last one).

Re: 2 under 2 (or close in age) changing table and rocker question?
My answer probably won't help you. We still change DS (2yo) on a changing pad on the dresser. Same issue - we need to contain him. DD also has the same, a pad on her dresser. They are both on the second floor. For the 1st floor, I bought a used changing table where I change them both during the day (so I don't have to run upstairs).
We used to be in a 1 bedroom apartment so the rocker was in the living room. I stopped rocking DS to sleep a long time ago so it wasn't an issue when we had DD. I just put the glider in her room. Honestly, I don't use it as much with her as I did with DS. She is not even 8 weeks and STTN. I am not sure why, but I *think* part of the reason may be because she is not being rocked to sleep every night and nap!
Is there a common room you can keep the rocker in so that you don't have to get another one? Perhaps someone has a used one you can buy or one you can borrow.

I'm not sure how you feel about buying off craigslist but I literally just saw this before I came on here. There's actually a bunch but this one looked like it was in great condition :)

Re: 2 under 2 (or close in age) changing table and rocker question?
We just moved the changing table into Emmy's big girl room. We bought a used crib for $75 at a consignment event. Em was 23 months when Sawyer was born. He has all the old nursery furniture except the changing table. We put a changing pad on the longer dresser and change him there. IMHO I need to have changing stations in each room as they both get changed on a mat. As for the glider.....I never really used it with Em, but with Saw we do so I just needed the one I already had. If I had used it with Em I would have bought a 2nd. Check Craigs list. I know you could just use the new baby's room for all of this, but I liked that they each had their own space and own things.
