2 year olds and preschool

If you started at 2, how did it go? I just signed DD up, she will turn 2 just before school starts and I'm so worried about the kids being up to 8 months older. It makes such a difference at this age!
Just looking for some reassurance here! It's honestly mostly for socialization and structure as she is home with me everyday.

DD started going in Jan and she turned 3 that May.All the kids in her class all turned 3 the first 2 weeks she was there. or were already 3. She did fantastic. she was so ready and loved every moment of it. Shes excited to start again in a few weeks. there was a boy who started a few months later at 21 months and he was fine too. never cried always happy. i think she will be fine

Re: 2 year olds and preschool

My situation is a little different, but still applicable I think.

My DS got moved up to the toddler room at his daycare in Jan when he was 18 months. (He only goes 2 full days a week).

Anyway, many of his classmates were 6-10 months older than him (the room goes up to 3). I think it really helped him with his verbal skills and social skills.

I think your DD will be just fine!

2 year olds and preschool

Ds started last year just shy of 2. he's an October baby and was 7 weeks early so I was SUPER concerned!!! He cried for the first few weeks (he went 2x a week for 2 hours a day) he would calm Down after a little while and he did great. When he started he wasn't talking much at all but by Christmas break he was starting to more and more. I was very pleased with the progress he made.

I am concerned about the oldest kids being almost a year ahead in age, even more so because if he was born on time he would have been after the cut off and a year later in school. But they will all eventually even out a bit as they get older.

Thanks all!

Just one of those moments where I needed some who's been there to tell me she'll love it and it was a good idea. My DD is the oldest of all my friends kids, so I'm usually the one giving the reassurance!
