I said to DH that, as Meredith said, "the other shoe is going to drop". He seems strangely detached, and I really do feel that he's had to find a mechanism to deal with all of this...I just hope he's not going to lash out in the end...  Poor kid.

It was on tonight at 8
I didn't watch it, but have been following the story.
Basically, the mom took the son to her country for vacation when they were still married and when she got there she called the dad and told him she was not coming home. She then divorced him and got remarried in her native country. The dad was trying to get him back the entire time.
The new husband adopted the son (not sure how you can do that when you have a bio father who wants the child still in the picture) and the mom died giving birth to their child I believe last year. So the step-dad has been fighting to keep Sean and the bio dad has been fighting to bring him home. It's so sad because for the last 5 years, the dad has been trying to get his son back. And now that he's gotten him back he has lost so much time and who knows what the other family has been saying to him about his bio dad.

Mom (berna??) took Sean (son) to Brazil for a 2 week vacation. David (dad) took them to airport and that was the last time he saw his son. Berna (wife) called David several times saying she is not coming back to the states and wants David to GIVE UP PARENTAL rights to Sean. This was back in 2003/4. David has been fighting since then to get his boy back. Mean while Berna dies after giving birth to new baby (not sure how long ago).
In a nut shell Ex-wife's high profile $$ family fought back to keep Sean in Brazil. After 5+yrs David got to take Sean home.
