2nd pregnancy issue with RH negative - UPDATE
I just found that I have 0- blood after believing all of my life that I am A+.
We need to have my husband's blood tested and after all of my reading I learned that it doesn't really affect your first pregnancy.
But I had a miscarriage this year and obviously didn't get the shot because we didn't know that my blood was negative.
I know I still need the shot but should I have it done ASAP or still at 28 weeks since this is my second pregnancy??
I was at my practice last night but didn't think of it til this morning. I saw a "new doctor" from the practice (one whom I have never met) who may not have read that I miscarried and now I am concerned.
_______________________________________________ UPDATE
I spoke to my doctor who confirmed that I was 0- . I expressed my concern for not having a shot after the miscarriage in June and he expressed concern as well. But as I said above I never had any bloodwork done b/c I never made it to my 8 week app't then
Since I just had extensive bloodwork done recently, he was able to confirm that I don't have any antibodies (THANK GOD) that could harm my little munchkin.
So my DH is getting his blood checked tomorrow and if he is a negative, I don't need the shot. This is a possibility since I didn't have antibodies from the last pregnancy. (Or that baby had negative blood as well)
I don't know if this makes sense or if I am saying it right but the bottom line is that I am in the clear. I am glad that I am on the ball and that I have all of you to bounce ideas off of.
Thanks for everything. I feel so much relief!

I don't understand why your original MD didn't do bloodwork or know your blood type - that would really annoy me.
I am RH negative and had a shot at 8wks but that was only b/c I bled a tiny bit and they wanted to be on the safe side. I still have to have one in a few days at 28 wks b/c apparently the shot only lasts 12wks or so.
However, I have no idea what should be done in your case - I would call your MD.

I miscarried before my 8 week app't and I truly believed I was A+ my whole life because that is what my mother told me!
I am going to call the office. I am stressed out and nervous. I bled a little in the beginning of my pregnancy (before any bloodwork was done) and now I don't know what to think.
IF DH is negative then we should be ok, but he has no idea either.

The only issue is if you became sensitized because of your miscarriage (meaning your O- blood mixed with the baby's + blood). You can ask for your blood to be tested for this, and if its negative you should be fine.
Don't worry until you know for sure what your DH's blood type is.

I am RH negative and they never tested DH's blood. I had the shot at 28 weeks and then the babies were tested and I needed it again since they were both postive.

Same here.
I don't understand how your Dr. never took your blood to find out your blood type?

Either way I would call the Dr today and get in for an appointment! See what he/she thinks!

Re: 2nd pregnancy issue with RH negative - please read
They can draw your blood to see if you were sensitized. If you weren't you are okay. If you were you will carry this baby fine and be closely monitored. If Dh has neg blood there is no problem. If you were sensitized then getting a shot now will not help. If you weren't there is nothing to worry about and you won't need the shot until 28 weeks. I know this is scary because I went through an rh scare with my miscarriage. Either way you need to get your blood drawn ASAP. If you are sensitized you need to monitored closely from the begining. But I am sure you are okay. I would call your doctor though. Keep us updated. My doctor assured me that people with rh sensitvity carry babies to term and that doctors have experience with it. It will be fine. So relax and get the bloodwork done.

Re: 2nd pregnancy issue with RH negative - please read
I am also RH negative. When I got pregnant, the first thing my Dr did was bloodwork. After realizing that I am RH negative, she drew DH's blood as well. Unfortunately, he has a positive blood type so I have to take the rhoGAM injection, also(next week, actually.) To second the advice already given, go get bloodwork done immediately.
While you are at it, ask your Dr to test your husband's as well. It will give you peace of mind if you find out that he is also a negative blood type. If he is positive, I still wouldn't worry too much. This is the 21st century and you will be monitored carefully throughout the remainder of your pregnancy!
I hope all works out well!

They tested mine at the first appointment, then said they would test his. They didn't need to, he knew his blood type and he was positive.
