2nd time moms - notifiying Ped about baby #2

For those who have more than one child, when did you tell your Pediatrician that you were having another baby and that they would have a new patient?

I obviously don't have to go through the whole "interviewing a Pediatrician" thing this time around, but when do we actually notify the office that a new baby is on the way?

Won't they see you and see you are pregnant when you bring in DC1 long before #2 is due? My ped asked if we were working on #2 when I was like 6 weeks along, so she has known since then!

I just mentioned it to him the next time I saw him when I brought in my son for a check up. Then the hospital contacted him when the baby was born.

I mentioned it at DD's 18 mo visit casually to the doctor. She said congratulations and that was the end of it. I do sorta wonder if I need to further address it. I will probably call the office once my due date gets closer and ask the receptionist if I need to do anything more regarding baby #2.

edit for typo

Re: 2nd time moms - notifiying Ped about baby #2

We were last there in September for my son's 3yr well visit. I obviously looked pregnant, but the doctor didn't say anything to me.

My son wasn't enjoying his visit there, and it was tough to even have a simple conversation about my son's height and weight. Convo about a new baby never came up!

I'm due in 2 months, and I guess at some point I should call them and let them know.

I am not delivering at the same hospital that my Ped is affiliated with (Huntington vs. Good Sam), so I don't know if the hospital will contact my Ped right away.

I never told the pediatrician. My ped was associated with the hospital I was delivering at. The staff at the hospital asked who my ped was so they knew to have that practice see my child when he/she was born. If I hadn't been at a hospital they were associated with, a ped from the hospital would see the dc. When I got home, I called to make an appt for my dc for his/her first visit.

Just took ds2 for his 18month well and she could clearly tell I was pregnant (28w). She asked when I due and said just tell the hospital who the Ped is and Ill see you there.
