3 months 1 week old...too young?

to CIO? He's been literally up from 3:30 this morning until now, with one 1 hour and nap and 1 two hour nap, he's totally overtired.

This is the first time I put him in his crib, I swaddled him, but on a lullaby CD and closed the door. He's just making little annoyed noises, not crying...

What do I do?

3 months is too young for CIO. If he is not crying now and just fussing, I would leave him. I know my answer might not be the popular one, but that's what I would do. As long as he's not crying. Let him get his annoyance out, it might tire him out and get him to sleep.

in short, yes, it is too young....I have BTDT and I know how stessful it is but at that age, babies really do not know how to self soothe

That said, if he is noy crying, let him fuss and whine a bit, that is not considered CIO to me Chat Icon

DD is almost 12 weeks old.

There have been a couple of times when I have been busy and could not get to DD as soon as she cried. After a couple of minutes, she would stop crying and fall asleep. So it was unintentional CIO.

Now unless she is seriously upset (I can tell by the type of cry) sometimes I let her cry / fuss for a little bit to see if she will stop on her own, or really needs mommy.

ETA and I'm an advocate of CIO. Your little guy is just a little too young.
