34 weeks and high blood pressure
went to my 34 week appt yesterday. The nurse took my BP and said it was a little high (for me) it was 145/80 im normally always around 120/70. She said she wasnt too worried but it was high for me and to lay on the table on my left side and the Dr. would take it again.
maybe 5-10 min later Dr. comes and takes it again (while im resting on my left) and it was back to nomal.
now he said instead of coming in 2 weeks I should just come 1 time a week to be watched since it was high this time.
Should I be worried? im a little nervous about it, but im staying positive until next visit, maybe it was just something I ate or stress?
If I continue to have HP what does that mean? Could I go early?

Re: 34 weeks and high blood pressure
I bp went a little high at 36 weeks. I was already coming in for my weekly visits. If the bp stayed high or kept rising, my dr said he would want to do a c and take the baby out. He wasn't overly concerned, and at my next apt my bp went back down. It has bounced around a bit in the last few appts, but nothing to make him crazy. Sometimes the bp justr spikes. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just try and drinks lots and keep ur feet up.

I hear that your BP does go up later in pregnancy so since you are so far along it sounds normal. Just ensure to keep salt intake lower the next few weeks.

If the only thing you have is higher BP, then I wouldn't worry. If you have protein in your urine, severe swelling, headaches that don't go away and/or start seeing spots, you could have preeclampsia. I wouldn't be overly concerned right now, but I think it's good that your doctor is staying on top of it.

Re: 34 weeks and high blood pressure
I had a consistantly high top number for about 3 weeks - it was 140. The bottom never went above 70 though. They werent' OVERLY concerned but they did put me on a mild BP med and they see me every week now. I did a 24 hour urine collection- and there was no protein in my urine.
So for now I go every week- for urine tests, BP tests, and I had a growth sono and a biophysical as a precaution. Baby is doing well though and with the meds my pressure on the top number finally did drop to 124.
They will just keep an eye on you and the baby for a little bit.... Try not to stress- that only makes it worse- but I know from experience that is easier said than done. Worst comes to worse you'll be put on meds, but I am thinking yours was a fluke- since it went back down after you rested a bit. You could have been stressed, or had too much sodium- there are a lot of things that raise it. FM me if you have any questions...I've been through it all with this BP stuff!
