My father passed away this morning...
At least it appeared to happen in his sleep, quietly and with no pain - that's all I really could have asked for. But all the same, even though I've been expecting this for months, I'm still swept away by it all.
Daddy,
I know the last few years of your life weren't what you dreamt for yourself, and weren't as dignified as you would have wished. But, no matter what, I will always remember you as the strong, intelligent, quiet, giving, compassionate, fair man that you were. You were the most incredible father a little girl could ever dream of having, and I know in my heart I was the luckiest girl on earth to have you as my role model.
I will always love you and will try my hardest to continue the beautiful legacy of kindness, intellect and compassion that you gave to me. I know that, even though you didn't have a chance to tell me, you loved me very much, and were very proud of me, and I will always hold that in my heart wherever I go. And know this, that the little latke growing in my belly is the luckiest one of all because he/she will now be named after the greatest man that I have ever known.
I love you and I will miss everything about you. I will miss our talks, I will miss your sarcasm, your wit, your love for life... but most of all, I will miss you...
