Re: 3D/4D sono's.... who is doing them? Who has done them?

i would like to say that I had a 3d sono done & it was not 3d/4d the ENTIRE TIME. The tech would do a normal sonogram and switch to 3d/4d when she felt she had a good shot....(which, because our angel girly was sleepy & face down was NOT often).
the ENTIRE time we were there, the 'heat' and etc. was not on...so i am not worried at all.
I pretty much had the same experience as Jess. And I believe we didn't go to the same place.
I went to Impact and had a great experience. Honestly, my sono at impact was about 15-20 minutes. I think the regular anatomy scan and growth sono's i get at the dr's office are longer than that, but i got such better pics at Impact.
If your that concerned I would ask your dr about the risks, but i told mine where I was going because it was cheaper than what they offered in the office and she had nothing bad to say about it.
Thank you for posting. I feel better now.

I didn't get one. My last sono was at 21 weeks and I am currently 34 weeks. While it would have been nice to see the baby between then and now I didn't feel the need for a 3D.

you can technically get it at any time but it's only worth it to get it from 28 weeks-34 weeks. that's when the baby starts to build alot of fat and doesn't look like a scary skeleton

Re: 3D/4D sono's.... who is doing them? Who has done them?
My response is simple.
We paid $180.00 for 3D and 4D. It was worth every single cent. Just my honest opinion.
I imagine myself watching the 4D DVD with her one day in the future and remembering that day clearly and how much it meant to us.
At 17 weeks, I saw some really good features too.

I'm not going to be getting one, but mainly because they kinda creep me out I think some are really cute, so I can see the appeal, but it's just not for me...
My sentiments exactly. I am fine with a normal sonogram.

We are not doing it bc I don't want to spend the extra $$. Plus I feel now that I know it is a I want to wait to see what he looks like until birth!!

Re: 3D/4D sono's.... who is doing them? Who has done them?
No, we're not. We already found out the sex and I feel like there will be no surprise if we knew what he looked like too. Also, I live in a different country from my family and while I'd love to go when I'm visiting with my mom, DH won't be there and I don't think it's fair to do it without him. Maybe next time.

Re: 3D/4D sono's.... who is doing them? Who has done them?
I did it with DD #1 and it was awesome
this time, I will not be doing it because my OB updated their us machine and they now do 3d's. I should get some when I go for my growth sono (at approx. 35 weeks, I think)

Re: 3D/4D sono's.... who is doing them? Who has done them?
Now i'm nervous to get it done... we're schedule to go to Impact at the end of May.
Here's what they say on their site:
Is it safe? Are there any risks to me, or my baby?
Extensive studies over 35 years have found that ultrasound has not been shown to cause any maternal or fetal harm. Routine diagnostic scanning of all pregnancies is now a normal procedure. 3D/4D scans use EXACTLY the same type and intensity of ultrasonic waves as in conventional 2D scan.
The combination of increased data gathering (listening) by the transducer and software interpretation after data acquisition creates these amazing 3D 4D images and not a higher intensity, frequency or ‘power' output. Our guidelines dictate the systems to be used in the Obstetric Application Mode. This mode is capped by the manufacturer (GE) below the FDA limits (94 milliwatts/cm2) for exposure. In fact, the system takes simultaneous 2D scans in saggital, coronal and transverse planes and the software renders the 3D 4D images. It's that simple!
We provide forms to mothers and physicians/midwives with clear written statements of the services offered at Impact Medical Technologies. We highly recommend that parents discuss with their doctor about any safety concern on 3D 4D ultrasound.
Published studies on ultrasounds can be reviewed below on Dr. Joseph Woo's world renowned website, a highly respected source of information on maternal-fetal medicine.

Re: 3D/4D sono's.... who is doing them? Who has done them?
As far as I know, I am getting one/some done at my next OB visit, which is in a week and a half. I'll be 32 weeks. All the other sonograms there so far have been 2D but they give people a little treat by doing 3D/4D when they get further along. I'm pretty psyched for it. But I truthfully don't think I would pay to have them done. I can def. see the appeal but I figure I'd rather spend the $ on something else for the baby. I'd also be afraid that they wouldn't get any good shots but maybe that's just being paranoid!
