3m old FF fed, pooping too much?

For the last week, DS is pooping after ever meal, and then some!

Before that it was 2-3 times a day, for about a week. Before that it was once very 1-2 days and I was supplementing with BM at that time.

Every time I pick him up, I smell poop. When I go to change him, its normal looking, like lumpy mustard, not too runny not too clumpy.

What does this mean, the food is going right through him? Is his body getting ready for solids?

Any mucous in it? My DD used to poop a lot before her milk allergy was diagnosed but that was really early on. She now poops only once a day, sometimes twice, sometimes thrice if she skipped a day. I would call the ped - that doesn't seem right to me though it seems like a milk allergy would've been caught earlier. Is she new to formula?

nope he's been getting formula since his week 2, nothing like this ever before, except when I was BF more. But his poop was so much gentler then on our noses and on his rear. Chat Icon

You said you were supplementing before - maybe he's just getting used to all formula? Not really sure about this one... solids might help. How old is he?

3 months ... what solids do they start with? rice in the formula? I'll call my ped before I do anything... I just need to get mentally ready for the idea, my head is spinning over how fast he's growing.

Adding rice cereal to formula is usually just for reflux I think, which my DD has so we've been doing that since she was 2 mos. Most peds won't start spoon feeding solids until 4-6 months. We just started cereals and pureed fruits/veggies on spoons a couple of weeks ago.

I wouldn't be to concerned - my older ds would poop 2-3x a day and he still does.
I joke his plumbing is definately working - as long as the baby is growing and gaining weight i wouldn't worry
