3rd Birthday Party - I want to make a "cupcake cake" and need some advice
I want to make something like these which are cupcakes pushed together and then decorated as if it was a single big cake:
I've found all these pictures, but no really clear instructions that explain how the icing doesn't fall between the cupcakes and how to transport the creation from home to the party....
Have any of you done this?

Here I go answering my own question. I found a video on kraftfoods.com that shows this being done...
If anyone has extra tips though I'd love to hear them...

just a thought in case you can't get the big cake to work...
Years ago, my mom did a cake where the "main" small cake was a clown and he had strings going out to "balloons" which were all the cupcakes

My friend ordered a cake just like that from BJ's. She wasn't happy when she pulled/ cut the cupcakes apart because the icing came off of half of them.
BJ's has since discontinued the cupcake cakes because there were so many complaints about the same problem my friend had.
Maybe by making them yourself you'll have better luck! Good luck!

stop & shops makes them- they are called "pull apart cakes"
i could make one for you- i taught them how to do it,
i can put a edible picture on it of any thing you'd like or kit

Aww thanks Megan, but I currently live in Massachusetts, which is a loooong way to go for a cake. Can I pay a consulting fee for some guidance? hehe

I think you need to make sure of two things. 1. that the cupckaes don't "muffin top" out of the pan, so they are all the same height and 2. use a thick icing - like a creamcheese one. In the video, you can see the icing dipping dow a bit into the cracks.
