4 month old sleep schedule

My DD' sleep is getting worse instead of better. When she came home from the hospital, she would sleep 2-3 hour stretches. That turned into 3-4 and 5-6. The last three weeks it has been regressing 3-4, 2-3 and now 1-2.... She will be four months tomorrow. Her naps during the day are erratic, so I think that may be part of the problem. What is your infant's nap/sleep schedule?

That happened to us at 4 months. DD is now 5 months and is better again. I think its the 4 month wakeful period. When they are learning new stuff it causes sleep disruption. Sorry you have to go through it but it will get better. There's not much you can do about it right now. It is exhausting.

Re: 4 month old sleep schedule

My DD is 4 months old and sleeps 6:30pm to 6/6:30am every night. This can vary slightly but she has been doing this schedule since about 2.5 months.

Her naps had started to normalize a few weeks ago but last week were a bit all over the place or even non-existant. Typically, she does a morning nap (8-10), afternoon nap (12-2) and a late afternoon "power nap" (typically 30-45 minutes at 4/5pm).

Interesting, I never went through this with my first. I'll have to look into it.

Re: 4 month old sleep schedule

DS turned 4 months last week.

He wakes up at 8am and goes down for his nap at 9:30a after nursing. He sleeps anywhere from 2-3 hours. Usually he wakes up at 12:30p. After 12:30 I can get him to take maybe 2 half hour naps for the rest of the day.

Around 8:30p we start our bed time routine. Washed up, pajamas, I put him in his sleep sack and then nurse him. By 9:30 he is asleep.
He will wake up at 2 to eat and then goes right back to sleep. He will wake up again at 6 to eat and go back to sleep till I wake him at 8.

I agree with this. DD was NEVER a great sleeper but I feel like she has gotten worse since turning 4 months.
More erratic.
And naps- forget it... she is lucky to nap a TOTAL of one hour per day- in like a few 15 min intervals.
I do hope it's this- and that it gets better soon! Chat Icon

Re: 4 month old sleep schedule

DS just turned 4 months old a few days ago...

He goes down at night around 7pm and wakes between 7 and 8am in the morning.

For naps--I'll admit, I've trained him to take his nap at the same time that his big sister (17 months old) naps during the day. He naps from 11-2, and that's pretty much it for the day. Sometimes he'll take a short half hour or so nap around 5pm.

Re: 4 month old sleep schedule

My DD takes such naps during the day..20 mins here...30 mins there..so she doesn't sleep that much during the day. However, she pulls through the night..I usually put her down around 9:30 pm and she wakes up around 7:00 am. So I can't complain, at least I get my sleep at night!

Re: 4 month old sleep schedule

DD goes to sleep around 9:30pm and wakes at 6am for a bottle then goes back to sleep right away. Will wake around 9am. Then naps about 10:30 or so for about an hour, takes a few cat naps during the day including about an hour from 7:30pm - 8:30pm.
