4 mth sleeping/eating habits
DS has been a bit tough lately. At 6 weeks he was sleeping through the night, so I think DH and I were very spoiled. Now at 23 weeks, he wakes up 2 times during the night and is ALWAYS hungry. And he is also teething. (Sticks fingers in his mouth and chews) Part of this is that he is a difficult eater during the day. He does not want to eat unless he is extremely hungry or almost asleep or asleep. Then starting at about 5pm, he is starving. And, even though he is on BM, he has stopped nursing. He completely bottle feeds. He drinks about 12 ounces from 5pm -10pm. I am BF and my milk was starting to reduce. My ped told me to add rice cereal to the bottles of milk. We add 1 tsp to every ounce of milk. He body is digesting well. He poops every other day and has not had any problems. We even given him 2 tb of rice cereal at 5pm last night and its been the same thing. During the night, he drank 10 ounces of milk!
So, my question is what do I do? Is there anything to do? I have not gotten solid sleep for 1 1/2 weeks. Is this a phase that I just need to deal with? How do I get his to increase his food intake?

Re: 4 mth sleeping/eating habits
DS is 4 1/2 months and for the past two weeks we have been experiencing something similar. He is FF. He takes 4 bottles a day with about 6.5 oz each, so 26 ounces...and then gets cereal/fruit 2x a day and a vegetable. He has always been the greatest sleeper, about 10 hours every night. Lately, he has been waking up randomly. Just a few minutes each time, I can hold him for a few minutes and he is right back to sleep, but he wont put himself back. If i dont go in there he will just lay awake in his crib. He is also teething ( although I see nothing coming in) Lots of drool, fingers in the mouth..etc. I have given baby orajel a few times if I think he needs it.....
Anyway, I think its a phase..i dont think there is much we can do, or not do to prevent it...I think they just change and we need to go with it. One suggestion is...can you try another grain instead of rice. We tried all 3, ( rice, oatmeal and barley) but i stick with oatmeal and barley because DS didnt poop well with the rice.
