$40 too much for a 16 m/o tee?

So I was in Nordstoms yesterday and picked up the cutest tee for DD. It was on the clearance rack, but no price tag.

So I go to the register thinking how much could it be? Well $38 dollars later....Chat Icon

I was surpried but bought it anyway.

Now, I never would spend that much on just one piece. But I'm curious as to what others think.

I feel the same way and if the price tag was on it, I would have put it right back. But it was cute and I figure every once in a while is not so bad.

Me too - its crazy but its not like I do it all the time.

Right now I have my eye on a $60 bathing suit for Ava. Its so adorable and I held off on buying it last year and its taunting me again for this season Chat Icon

I don't do it often, but every once in awhile, yes I do spend lots of money on clothes for Joey. In fact, I recently bought him a $60 Ralph Lauren sweater that was adorable, but I matched it with a $7 pair of Target jeans, so I justify. Chat Icon

Honestly, for a t-shirt I wouldn't even spend that kind of money for myself. I certainly wouldn't do it for DD who would grow out of it before wearing it more than twice.

I've never spent that much...but if it was really cute, and I had the money - I would. Lily grows so slowly that she really wears most of her clothes out. So, I'd be sure to get my money's worth out of the shirt!

I wouldn't! If I loved it, I would look for it on ebay where it's probably a fraction of the price.

I saw a cute junk food one that said "Little Miss Sunshine" on it at Nordstroms. $40! Target had a similar one for $7.99Chat Icon

Re: $40 too much for a 16 m/o tee?

thats a little too much for me to spend on a t-shirt. I just feel like they grow out of their clothes so fast and wouldnt get to wear it that much for all that money spent on it...
if it was for a special occasion or would get worn alot then maybe, but thats still pushing it (for me anyway)
maybe i would get it if someone else was paying Chat Icon

the most I ever spent on a shirt for DS was 20 bucks But I very rarely buy him any clothes since my family gives him stuff. I think I would have bought it at that point (since no tag) but the price bothers me and I would end up returning it

I had total buyer's remorse and almost returned it. But I said forget it, it's cute and I never do this, for myself or DD.

If DH knew how much I spent, she'd be wearing it every day...even for her baths. Chat Icon

Not for a T-shirt. I would spend that on maybe a dress for DD for a special occasion, but no way for a T that will be too small in a couple months.

For a Tee maybe not but I did buy DD #1 a leather jacket for 150.00 but I can justify it now cause Taylor can wear it lol

Once in a while is totally fine.
